The expansion of theEngineering Department, with strong focus on the Project Delivery capabilities, means we are looking for an on-siteProprietary Assembly & Integration Manager.

This role involvesrotation acrossvarious European locations depending on project requirements.

  • Can you lead and supervise the on-site assembly and integration of industrial machinery in a safe, structured and efficient way?

  • Can you read and work from installation drawings, layouts and interface documents, and resolve site issues together with engineering teams?

  • Can you manage contractors, suppliers, lifting activities and multidisciplinary teams across complex industrial installation projects?

  • Can you commit to a 3-weeks-on/1-week-off rotation across various European locations, including irregular hours when required?

As Proprietary Assembly & Integration Manager, you’ll be responsible for the planning, preparation, on-site supervision and execution of the installation and integration of proprietary machinery and equipment designed by Knauf Insulation’s internal engineering teams. The role also provides input to, or jointly develops, assembly plans with Engineering and equipment suppliers and ensures that assigned personnel, contractors and installation activities comply with approved engineering documents, site-specific safety rules, environmental protection measures and applicable local regulations. Responsibility extends from mobilization and installation preparation through mechanical, electrical and instrumentation alignment & completion, work safety and handover to the commissioning team.

The role involves a3-weeks-on/1-week-off rotation, with work across various European locations depending on project requirements, including irregular hours and challenging site conditions when needed.


What you’ll be doing:

Site installation and supervision

  • Plan and supervise the complete on-site assembly and installation of proprietary machinery and equipment.

  • Lead and coordinate installation activities with construction management, contractors, internal engineering teams and other disciplines. And depending on project size and complexity, also lead a team of assembly supervisors.

  • Organize work fronts, manpower, tools, lifting equipment, access, permits and installation materials.

  • Ensure that machinery is assembled in accordance with approved drawings, installation instructions, specifications, safety requirements and environmental protection measures.

  • Monitor construction and installation progress against the approved programme, identify constraints and initiate preventive or corrective actions to achieve project targets, with the support of the Site Manager or Project Manager.

  • Ensure safe installation and stop or escalate unsafe or non-compliant work.

Machinery integration, interface management, quality control and completion

  • Manage interfaces between proprietary machinery, utilities, process equipment, structures and other disciplines.

  • Coordinate equipment alignment, quality checks, upstream and downstream connections, and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and utility interfaces and coordinate appropriate corrective actions if required.

  • Track and close installation defects, non-conformances and interface deviations before handover to commissioning.

  • Prepare and complete installation records, inspection documentation, red-line mark-ups, punch-list status and handover documentation as well as to support the commissioning team during the handover period by resolving installation-related issues and providing technical clarification.

Coordination, reporting and customer interface

  • Provide regular, accurate updates on progress, resources, risks, constraints, deviations and required decisions to the Site Manager and Project Manager and attend regular coordination meetings.

  • Promote correct behavior, effective cooperation and good teamwork across the installation, construction and commissioning interfaces in accordance with company policies and local requirements and ensure highest level of safety standards are followed.

  • Review equipment drawings, assembly instructions, layouts, installation sequences and technical documentation before and during installation.

Ensure that proprietary equipment is installed in line with the design intent and approved technical requirements and provide structured feedback to engineering teams on installation experience, design improvements and recurring site issues and act as the main on-site interface with Engineering, contractors and construction management.

What we’d love for you to have:

  • Degreeor technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable discipline.

  • Extensive experience in industrial machinery installation, mechanical assembly, industrial construction, safety or plant engineering is a must.

  • Ability to interpret installation drawings and interface documents and resolve site issues with engineering support.

  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, lifting activities and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong site leadership, planning and coordination capability.

  • Practical problem-solving, sound technical judgement and clear stakeholder communication.

  • Able to work with ACAD or a similar software to validate drawings and identify clashes

  • Commitment to safety, quality and on time delivery.

  • Proficient spoken and written English.

  • Willingness to work a 3‑weeks‑on/1‑week‑off site rotation with irregular hours, nights and weekends.

  • Flexibility in terms of location : the actual place of work will be in various locations in Europe, depending on project requirements. Valid driving license is needed.

Due to the nature of the role, which involves frequent assignments across various European locations, candidates must be legally able to undertake such assignments without requiring Knauf to obtain additional work authorisations for each assignment.
