Summary of RoleThe Property & Maintenance Assistant helps ensure an excellent facility by maintaining, fixing, securing, and improving the church grounds and buildings. This position requires flexibility as our team assures that the church is prepared for all worship services and other ministry activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the use of church buildings, assets, and grounds
- Assist in managing the maintenance of church grounds and buildings
- Maintain cleanliness of all church facilities, including lobbies, worship spaces, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas
- Provide on-site support during services or events as needed, addressing spills, restrooms, and unexpected needs
- Partner with ministry leaders to understand and execute room setup needs accurately and efficiently
- Set up and tear down rooms for services, events, and meetings (tables, chairs, signage, equipment, etc.) partnering with ministry leaders to understand and execute room setup needs accurately and efficiently
- Reset spaces between gatherings to ensure readiness for the next ministry or event
- Work with other staff leaders to ensure the guest experience on the church campus is welcoming
- Work with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors on buildings/grounds projects as directed
- Serve as a liaison when needed with various teams or agencies regarding property issues
- Work with Impact Team and local law enforcement to always ensure a safe and secure building
- Engage and support Impact Team members in security, maintenance, and repair of our facilities
- Other related tasks as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Previous property and facility maintenance experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to learn and use Emmanuel’s systems (Rock, Planning Center, etc.) and learn and adapt to new technology
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner, self-motivated
- Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling personal and ministry information
- Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity

- Foster and promote a healthy staff culture by adhering to the Emmanuel Staff Behavioral Values
- Regularly participate in Emmanuel Church activities and events
- Agree to abide by Emmanuel Church’s Expectations of a Staff Member which include:
- Financial support of the church with your tithe
- Attend one weekend service each week and monthly staff meetings
- Participate in community through small group
- Prioritize a Sabbath (one 24-hour period of time off work each week
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands.
- Required to read, speak, and hear.
- Occasional need to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
