Project Manager PMP Role - Mechanicsville, VA (Hybrid, 8 Months)

Job Summary:

Seeking for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to enhance project governance, support project managers, and strengthen agency-wide project delivery practices. This role provides direct support to the PMO through documentation management, training coordination, risk oversight, and recurring reporting across IT projects.

Responsibilities:

• Update, maintain, and publish PMO documentation to support IT project managers and staff.
• Manage SharePoint Online document libraries for accuracy, accessibility, and governance.
• Develop and deliver training for IT project managers and staff, including creating training materials and user documentation.
• Serve as a risk manager for IT projects, guiding risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation procedures.
• Support recurring reporting using Excel and Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and insights.
• Provide oversight and guidance to projects in the Planning phase to ensure readiness for execution.
• Ensure projects in execution follow established governance structures, including meeting cadence, reporting, metrics tracking, risk and issue management, and quality assurance.
• Review project plans to ensure inclusion of required components such as tasks, schedules, risk identification, resource allocation, checkpoints, and status reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of project management methodologies, PMO standards, and governance frameworks.
• Experience with SharePoint Online document organization and management.
• Strong skills in publishing documentation and supporting PMO processes.
• Skill in developing and delivering training to audiences with varying levels of project management experience.
• Skill in performing risk assessments and communicating risk posture.
• Skill in preparing data-driven reports and visualizations using Excel and Power BI.
• Ability to evaluate project readiness during Planning and provide guidance.
• Ability to monitor governance compliance throughout project execution.
• Ability to review project plans for completeness and collaborate with teams to address gaps.

Qualifications:

• 15 years of overall IT experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of project management experience.
• Proficient in MS Office tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, and Excel.
• Training and documentation experience.
• PMP or ACP Certification through PMI or PM certification.
• Experience with Technology Portfolio (CTP) system and ECOS process is strongly preferred.

• 10 years of experience with project management tools.
• 5 years of training experience.
• 3 years of SharePoint document management experience.
• 8 years of experience in IT Risk Management as a risk manager.
