WebBeds is one of the world’s fastest growing providers of accommodation distribution services to the travel industry, and our technology sits at the heart of it, from distribution APIs and payment integrations to ERP integrations, data platforms and user interfaces. Our search API handles peaks of more than 50.000 requests per second, each covering tens or hundreds of hotels, and the platform keeps growing.
Our mission as a technology organisation is to design, deliver and support innovative solutions through engagement, collaboration and a strong passion for creating customer value. To do that, we build on modern, cloud-hosted technology, microservices, automated testing and delivery pipelines, and proactive monitoring, which means the projects you manage will often involve several teams, systems and external partners at the same time.
You will join our PMO and work closely with delivery teams made up of software engineers, QA engineers, product owners and people from across the business, many of whom work remotely in different countries and time zones. Our teams have the freedom to find creative solutions to complex problems, and you will play a key part in keeping that work organised, connected and moving towards delivery. You will be able to learn from experienced technical and project colleagues, but we also value the new ideas, fresh thinking and ways of working you will bring with you.
What you will do on your journey with WebBeds.
As a Project Manager, you will plan and deliver technology projects across our booking platforms and connected systems, working with cross-functional teams of engineers, product owners, QA and business stakeholders who are often spread across different countries and time zones. Our teams are global, so this role needs someone self-sufficient who can take a project from kick-off to launch with minimal supervision, keep things moving without waiting to be told what to do next, and know when and how to escalate.
You will join our PMO within a technology organisation that sits at the heart of one of the world's fastest growing providers of accommodation distribution services to the travel industry. Our search API handles peaks of more than 50,000 requests per second, and the projects you manage will often involve several teams, systems and external partners at the same time. In this role you will:
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver projects: plan, organise and deliver projects from kick-off to launch, defining scope, milestones, dependencies and delivery roadmaps together with the delivery teams.
- Coordinate across teams: coordinate work across multiple IT and business teams, making sure everyone is aligned on priorities, timelines and responsibilities, even when working remotely across time zones.
- Run project meetings: run regular project meetings with technical teams to address questions, unblock issues and keep the work focused on delivery.
- Track and report progress: track and report project progress clearly and consistently, keeping stakeholders informed through status updates, kick-off and phase gate presentations, and steering meetings where needed.
- Manage risks and dependencies: identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies early, putting mitigation plans in place and following them through until they are resolved.
- Engage in technical discussions: engage with Software Engineers, Product Owners and System Engineers, understanding enough of the technical detail to help resolve issues and remove cross-team blockers.
- Coordinate launches and releases: coordinate launches and releases, including production fixes, which may sometimes take place outside regular business hours, and support the team during the post-launch phase to resolve issues quickly.
- Manage budgets and vendors: track project budgets and resources, and work with third-party vendors where they are part of the delivery.
- Support business analysis: step into a business analyst role when needed, helping to gather and document requirements.
- Share lessons learned: share lessons learned and contribute to improving how we deliver projects across the PMO.
The skills we would love to see in your suitcase!
Must have
- Ideally 5+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager, delivering large-scale technology projects with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote setup, organising your own work, making decisions and driving progress without needing close supervision.
- Solid experience managing scope, timelines, risks, dependencies and stakeholders across both technical and business teams.
- Technical understanding to follow and contribute to discussions about software delivery, such as APIs, integrations, cloud platforms and release processes.
- Hands-on experience with both Agile and traditional delivery approaches, and the judgement to know which fits the project.
- Experience with project management and collaboration tools (for example Jira, Confluence or similar).
- A degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong plus
- A recognised project management certification (for example PMP, PRINCE2 or an Agile/Scrum certification).
- Experience in travel, hospitality or a related industry (for example hotels, airlines or online travel), ideally in a B2B setting.
- Experience delivering solution implementations or integrations with external partners and vendors.
- Experience supporting presales or partner onboarding with project plans and delivery estimates.
How you work
- You are self-sufficient and proactive, comfortable taking ownership and finding answers yourself rather than waiting for direction.
- You are organized and resourceful, able to keep several moving parts under control at the same time.
- You are a collaborative team player who builds good working relationships across remote teams and different cultures.
- You communicate clearly and confidently, in writing and in person, with people at all levels, both technical and non-technical.
- You are comfortable with change and able to adapt plans quickly when priorities shift.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and oral.
