Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We have an exciting opportunity in our MQ-9B Chief Engineering Office located in Poway, CA. This position is responsible for project engineering support for the Airframe and Production Team within the MQ-9B Chief Engineering Office. This position will focus on production projects pertaining to our MQ-9B RPA platform. This is a multi-faceted role dealing with a wide variety of skill sets and stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. The position will include working with engineering leadership, program management, and customer representatives to develop and execute development, test, and sustainment programs for domestic and international customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the Chief Engineering Office, provide project engineering support as follows:
- Work with Operations Program Management (OPM) to resolve engineering issues and support aircraft builds.
- Coordinates and monitors the design and development process by making periodic visits to manufacturing shops, quality assurance, manufacturing engineering and electrical engineering.
- Work with the Chief Engineering Office and Program Engineering Teams to fulfill the technical obligations of the Customer Program requirements.
- Represents the organization as a prime technical contact within an engineering team for assigned project(s)/program(s).
- May function in an advisory or leadership role for a project/program and provide direction and guidance to less experienced professional staff or team of professional staff.
- Plans and coordinates the maintenance of engineering solutions including, documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical and other presentations to ensure viability of the solution(s) in an evolving environment.
- Support engineering estimates and proposals in response to customer and program management direction.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and manage issue tracking in assigned areas by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
- Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required.
- Direct the activities of designers, technicians and may direct the activities of less experienced professional staff.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
