Through its voter-approved bond program, BuildLACCD is modernizing classrooms, labs, and campus facilities that directly shape how hundreds of thousands of Angelenos learn and train for careers.
As Project Engineer III, you will be the control point for Change Orders and Field Orders across Districtwide design and construction projects. Your reviews protect public bond dollars, keep projects moving, and give District leadership accurate information to make decisions. This is a high-visibility role for a seasoned construction professional who knows contract documentation and wants their work to count.

What You Will Do

Change Order and Field Order Management

  • Perform internal and detailed reviews of Change Orders (CO), Field Orders (FO), and other contractual documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Program Management Office (PMO) staff and the District Facilities, Planning, and Development (FPD) department on the review and processing of Change Orders for all active construction projects.
  • Monitor changes and revisions to ensure timely processing, and submit COs and FOs for final PMO and District approval.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for CO processing and maintain Change Order Logs and tracking documents for PMO and FPD use.

RFI and Submittal Tracking

  • Track and follow up with owner, design, and construction teams on RFIs and submittals during design, pre-bid, and construction phases.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and drawings to support reviews.

Coordination and Issue Resolution

  • Participate in and assist with coordination meetings with the District Office and stakeholders to keep reviews on schedule.
  • Facilitate resolution of conflicts and issues to maintain timely workflow.
  • Generate and distribute meeting minutes to confirm discussions and decisions.

Reporting and Records

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for management review.
  • Collect, track, and review lessons learned for project closeouts and management review.
  • Maintain electronic files and records for all reviews, and keep a daily task log submitted monthly to management.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the PMO Construction Department and District FPD on bond-funded projects, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet all of the following:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction.
  • BS/BA Degree in construction, engineering, or architecture. Four years of additional qualifying experience in excess of the minimum years stated above may be substituted for the required education.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.
  • Effectively manage daily work effort.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
