Provides individual support and group facilitation on the adult inpatient psychiatric unit, focusing on introducing and strengthening patient coping skills, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and personal growth. Attends treatment team to contribute observations to development of plan. Works with unit director on program development, staff development and education, and achieving regulatory expectations.Job Description:
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team to ensure appropriateness of patient’s treatment goals andplans.
- Provides ongoing treatment as outlined by treatment team via groups and 1:1 interventions.
- Consults with charge nurse regarding any significant changes in a patient’s status
- Provides timely and accurate documentation to patient chart via weekly and group notes.
- Monitors supplies and complete order forms as needed.
- Completes daily group assignments to provide most therapeutic interventions
- Keeps group protocols up to date
- Maintains organization, safety and cleanliness of group area
- Maintains AVADE and BLS education
- Participates in ongoing clinical education to ensure competency and currency specific to Psychiatry/Psychology
- Provides education and supervision for staff regarding group leadership competency, sensory interventions, and other alternative treatment options
- Follows The Joint Commission safety goals
- Human Rights Officer- ensure patients understand and can exercise their legal and human rights, investigate and resolve complaints on their behalf, and serve as their advocate within the unit, per Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations
- Completes other duties as assigned

At times and when directed, may provide guidance and support to others while acting as a resource, trainer and/or preceptor.
Staff Education and Development
Â
Provides ongoing education and supervision for group leadership, and overall staff education and development. Introduces
and educates on new treatment options. Collaborates with unit director on the appraisals, contributing observations from
group leadership level of skill and needs.

Must possess verbal and written skills to communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of professional and non-professional members of the health care team, patients and family/significant others.

Minimum Education
BS in related field or related life experience, training in substance abuse care is very valuable.

Minimum Work Experience
• Must be skilled in group facilitation.
• Familiarity with sensory interventions, DBT and CBT

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some stooping and/or lifting, standing, walking and ability to perform both gross and fine motor coordination. Hearing/Vision
to be within normal limits.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
An acute inpatient psychiatric unit with patients of varying ages and diagnosis. The unit is multidisciplinary with a fast paced
and high stress environment.

Pay Range:
$23.15 - $31.16The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
