- Provide hands-on frontline supervision for approximately 20–40 hourly UAW employees across multiple lines or areas. Manage production and people processes, timekeeping, safety checks, client team-concept activities, required paperwork, quality containment and validation, production-at-rate, employee issues, downtime response, maintenance coordination, scrap investigation, and workplace organization.
Requirements:
- Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in business or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred. Automotive or manufacturing leadership experience and a management background are strongly preferred. UAW or other union experience is beneficial but not required.
- Alternative Backgrounds
- Candidates outside automotive may be considered if they demonstrate structured leadership experience and strong supervisory capabilities, including backgrounds such as corrections or public safety.
- Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, manufacturing knowledge, adaptability, clear communication, and the ability to lead from the plant floor.
- Personality That Thrives
- Energetic, action-oriented, adaptable, and team-centered. Able to make timely decisions under pressure, address conflict directly, remove roadblocks, and remain firm and fair on safety and performance.
- Top Skills:
- Manufacturing-process and Client knowledge — understands area processes, standardized work, SPQRCE expectations, and how to audit safe, consistent execution.
- Structured problem-solving and continuous improvement — can review downtime and production data, identify root causes, eliminate waste, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Production, training, and workforce coordination — can verify schedule attainment, maintain training matrices, coordinate with Team Leaders, and build team capability.
