As a Production Planner, you'll build the production plan for our manufacturing departments in Maine, making sure the right product is made at the right time and in the right amount. You'll partner closely with our production teams to make everything that goes into our products.

IDEXX is a global leader in pet healthcare innovation. The diagnostics and tests made in our Maine facilities help veterinarians diagnose and treat pets, help pet owners keep their companions healthy, and help livestock producers and water-quality professionals protect animals and people.

This is a hybrid role based at our corporate headquarters in Westbrook, ME, with a minimum of 8 days per month onsite.

The Planning department works hand-in-hand with Maine operations to turn raw materials into the products our customers depend on every day. You'll be part of a team that keeps technical manufacturing processes running smoothly, from the earliest components all the way through to finished goods.

Why This Role Matters

Production planning is the connection between our manufacturing teams and the customers who rely on our products. Getting inventory levels, timing, and dating right keeps our production lines running efficiently and ensures pet owners, veterinarians, and livestock producers around the world can count on IDEXX products being available when they need them. Our team prides itself on maintaining a high level of product quality and availability, and this role is critical to meeting that target.

In This Role, You Will

  • Schedule the right product, at the right time, in the right quantity to deliver the Supply Plan
  • Partner with Westbrook production teams across manufacturing to plan the components that go into our products
  • Open and manage work orders to keep production on schedule
  • Maintain master data to support system driven production plans.
  • Trace how components connect through the bill of materials, so you understand how a change in one place affects everything else
  • Manage product dating and ensure all products meet customer shelf-life requirements
  • Identify ways to reduce scrap and drive continuous improvement in planning
  • Cross-train with other planners to build a flexible, resilient team
  • Lead and support production planning meetings and other business processes
  • Stay current on industry best practices in supply chain and production planning

What You Need to Succeed

  • -1+ years of supply chain or production planning experience
  • Inventory planning experience and SAP/MRP history preferred, along with solid working knowledge of production scheduling concepts.
  • Strong quantitative skills and close attention to detail, especially with data accuracy
  • A track record of spotting a process that could be better and improving it, ideally with Lean methodologies
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to turn data into decisions. Experience with other analytics tools is a plus.
  • Smartsheet experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, cross-functional team, partnering closely with Westbrook operations.
  • College degree preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM or ISM certification a plus.

What you can expect from us:

  • Salary range starting at $77,400 based on experience
  • Opportunity for an annual cash bonus.
  • Health / Dental / Vision Benefits Day-One.
  • Opportunity for a performance-based annual merit increase.
