Production Manager

Primary Function:

The Production Manager is a mid-level position within the Qualla Enterprises, LLC organizational structure and is established to aid as part of the production team. The Production Manager will assist in managing the cannabis growing operations of the company. The incumbent will oversee the proper care of cannabis plants as well as the growing sites for the plants and ensure proper execution of the principles and practices of cannabis cultivation, propagation, and pest and disease control as directed by management. These specific functions are more fully explained below in the Job Duties and Responsibilities section. The Production Manager will work with the Plant Health Manager to ensure the accuracy of any outgoing cannabis products.

Reports to: Cultivation Director

Supervises:Production Supervisor, Production Lead, Production Technician

Pay Grade/FLSA Status: S9-VC/Exempt

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Associates degree in a related field preferred
• Experience in the cannabis or agricultural industry preferred
• 1 year supervisory experience required
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Duties/Responsibilities:

·       Execute the cultivation plan according to the company’s production plan

·       Follow the type and timing of the preparations, crop tending and cleanup

·       Schedule the required activities for maintenance of the plant’s life cycle

·       Manage the growing environment for optimal plant growth through irrigation, temperature, climate, and pest & disease control systems in accordance with grower instructions

·       Organize, direct, control, and/or coordinate activities of workers engaged in propagating, cultivating and harvesting

·       Track labor efficiency and suggest appropriate changes in labor crew to meet company goals

·       Assist cultivation team in establishing and maintaining a program to record crop growth data (weekly crop report, climate report, maturation report, production, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·       Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

·       Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

·       Strong attention to detail in accurate recordkeeping

·       Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and individually without close supervision

·       Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines

·       In-depth knowledge of large-scale, commercial cannabis cultivation including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, grow mediums, light requirements, and environmental control

·       Competency in use of climate computer controls

·       Knowledge of the entire cannabis growth cycle and requirements

·       Must be adept at industry best practices and current on new techniques and insights with respect to individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments, different lighting systems and set ups

Physical Demands:

·       Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and working conditions as dictated by an agricultural environment

·       Ability to work 10 to 20 feet off the ground using ladders

·       Manual dexterity to reach and handle small items, and work with fingers generally

·       Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

·       Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
