Production & Development Technician

Austin, TX | Full-Time | Onsite


The Opportunity 

Infravision is seeking a hands-on Production & Development Technician to support the assembly, integration, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in our innovative transmission line stringing operations.

In this technical role, you will assemble complex aircraft systems, perform functional testing, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and maintain equipment to ensure safe, reliable performance. Working closely with engineering, production, and aviation teams, you will contribute to both product development and ongoing fleet readiness.

What You’ll Do 

  • Aircraft Assembly & Commissioning:Assemble, integrate, and commission unmanned aircraft systems, including airframes, electronic components, sensors, payloads, controllers, and embedded flight controller software. Apply proper fastener installation and retention, torque procedures, electrical soldering, crimping, termination, and component-fitting techniques.
  • Functional Testing & Quality Assurance:Conduct functional tests, system checks, and operational inspections following assembly, maintenance, or repair to verify aircraft functionality, performance, and compliance with applicable manufacturer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Aircraft Maintenance & Inspections:Perform routine and scheduled UAV maintenance, including pre-flight inspections, post-flight servicing, battery checks, propulsion system inspections, component replacements, and software updates in accordance with applicable maintenance procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, avionics, propulsion, navigation, communication, and payload system issues using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and software. Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance:Follow established safety procedures, standard operating procedures, manufacturer maintenance requirements, and applicable aviation regulations, including relevant service bulletins and airworthiness directives. Participate in safety briefings, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
  • Fleet Management & Equipment Readiness:Support management of the UAV fleet through accurate maintenance logs, equipment histories, component tracking, inventory management, and readiness inspections to ensure aircraft are maintained and available for operational deployment.
  • Technical Documentation & Reporting:Maintain accurate assembly, inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing records in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Prepare documentation for internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting when required.
  • Training & Technical Support:Provide technical guidance to UAV operators and maintenance personnel on aircraft maintenance, pre-flight inspection procedures, equipment handling, and emergency protocols.
  • Production & Development Support:Collaborate with engineering, production, aviation, and technical teams to support aircraft development, manufacturing improvements, troubleshooting, testing, and evolving production priorities. Travel as required to support equipment and operational needs.


What We’re Looking For 

  • Education & Technical Experience: Degree, associate degree, technical certification, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Proven, documented hands-on experience building complex integrated electromechanical assemblies and subassemblies in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Soldering & Wire Harness Standards: High-reliability soldering training to IPC J-STD-001 and cable and wire harness assembly training to IPC/WHMA-A-620 required.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical and electrical assembly, troubleshooting, diagnostic tools, technical documentation, soldering, crimping, cable termination, fastener installation, and precision assembly practices.
  • UAV & Aircraft Systems: Experience designing, manufacturing, maintaining, or repairing unmanned aircraft systems, robotics, or related technologies highly desirable. Familiarity with airframes, propulsion systems, avionics, flight controllers, and payload equipment preferred.
  • Aviation Knowledge: Knowledge of applicable UAV aviation regulations, airworthiness standards, and aircraft maintenance procedures preferred. Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate highly desirable.
  • Quality & Safety: Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, compliance, quality standards, regulated manufacturing procedures, and accurate technical documentation.
  • Problem-Solving & Collaboration: Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Travel & Flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel throughout the United States and internationally, including Canada, Australia, India, and Europe, and adapt to changing production, engineering, and operational priorities.
