COMPANY OVERVIEW:

PGI is a privately held company, established in 1996.  We are a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive industry.  Our focus is on designing, manufacturing and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports and specialty filter markets.  Our supply chain network now branches across the Pacific and into South America.

Position Summary

The Product Quality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating product quality investigations, inventory verification activities, and corrective action follow-up related to product issues identified in the field, at customer locations, or within Premium Guard Inc.'s distribution network.

This position serves as a central point of communication between the Quality team, Distribution Operations, Product Management, and global manufacturing and Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) teams. The role ensures that reported product quality concerns are investigated promptly, potentially affected inventory is identified and evaluated, findings are accurately documented, and corrective actions are tracked through resolution.

The Product Quality Coordinator also supports internal quality management system auditing activities and provides secondary support to Product Management and Engineering through the sourcing and acquisition of original equipment (OE) and competitive product samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Product Quality Investigations & Field Issue Resolution

  • Coordinate investigations of reported product quality issues, including misboxed, mislabeled, damaged, defective, or otherwise nonconforming products.

  • Gather and review relevant information, including part numbers, lot codes, photographs, customer complaints, and supporting documentation.

  • Work with Quality and Product Management to determine investigation scope, identify potentially affected inventory, and coordinate appropriate follow-up.

  • Escalate significant or recurring quality concerns to the Global Quality Manager and appropriate stakeholders.

2. Warehouse Inventory Verification & Containment

  • Serve as the primary Quality liaison with distribution centers for product inspections, stock checks, and inventory verification requests.

  • Communicate inspection requirements, including affected part numbers, quantities, lot codes, and specific conditions requiring verification.

  • Coordinate inventory inspections, review findings, and consolidate results across facilities for reporting to Quality and Product Management.

  • Coordinate inventory holds, segregation, sorting, rework, or other approved disposition activities with Distribution Operations and Quality leadership.

  • Track inspection requests and follow up with warehouse personnel to ensure timely completion.

3. Supplier Quality Communication & Corrective Action Coordination

  • Communicate product quality concerns and investigation findings to overseas manufacturing facilities and regional Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs).

  • Coordinate supplier investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action requests, including 8D reports when required.

  • Track supplier responses, corrective action commitments, and implementation timelines to ensure timely resolution.

  • Work with regional SQEs to obtain supporting documentation and verify corrective action effectiveness.

  • Escalate overdue or inadequate supplier responses and recurring quality concerns to the Global Quality Manager.

4. Quality Documentation, Reporting & Communication

  • Maintain accurate records of product quality complaints, warehouse inspections, supplier investigations, and corrective actions.

  • Prepare investigation summaries documenting reported concerns, inspection results, affected inventory, corrective actions, and resolution status.

  • Provide regular updates to the Global Quality Manager and Product Management regarding open investigations and outstanding actions.

  • Monitor investigation timelines and follow up with responsible parties to ensure timely closure.

  • Support quality reporting, identification of recurring issues, and continuous improvement of investigation processes.

  • Serve as a qualified internal auditor upon completion of company-provided training and qualification, conducting assigned internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.

5. Product Sample Acquisition & Support

  • Assist Product Management and Engineering with sourcing and purchasing OE and competitive product samples for evaluation and benchmarking.

  • Identify sample sources through dealerships, distributors, online suppliers, and other available channels.

  • Coordinate sample purchases, shipment tracking, and delivery to designated personnel or facilities.

  • Maintain basic records of sample purchases, costs, and shipment status.

  • Perform other related product quality and administrative support activities as assigned.
