The brief
Sama is building products that make technology more accessible, from giving devices a second life to creating digital experiences that help people access learning, opportunities, and community.
We are looking for a Product Manager who can take a problem fromidea to shipped product. Someone who understands users deeply, thinks clearly about product, and is technically strong enough to work closely with engineers and make thoughtful decisions about what and how we build.
This is a hands-on product role. You will work across product, technology, design, and operations turning ambiguous problems into simple products that work.
We are not looking for someone who only manages a roadmap.
We are looking for someone whobuilds.
What we are building
Sama is building an ecosystem aroundtechnology access, reuse, and learning.
We are working to give devices a second life by getting unused and underused laptops into the hands of people who can use them to learn and work. Alongside this, we are buildingSama Socialย a digital ecosystem designed to help people access technology, learning, and community.
The opportunity is to build products and systems that can work at scale while staying simple and useful for the people they are built for.
What this role is
We are looking for a Product Manager who sits at the intersection ofproduct and technology.
You should be able to understand a user's problem, turn it into a clear product problem, and work with engineers to figure out the right technical solution.
You don't need to be a software engineer. But you should be comfortable understanding APIs, databases, integrations, technical architecture, data flows, and engineering trade-offs and be able to have a meaningful conversation with engineers about how something should be built.
You will own thewhat, why, and outcome, while working closely with the tech team on thehow.
This is a high-ownership individual contributor role with significant scope to shape Sama's products as they grow.
What you will be doing
- Own product problems end-to-end from understanding the problem and defining the opportunity to shipping, measuring, and iterating.
- Talk to users and stakeholders regularly to understand needs, behaviours, and pain points, and use these insights to shape the product.
- Define product vision, priorities, roadmaps, and success metrics for your area.
- Work closely with engineers and designers to turn product requirements into simple, technically feasible solutions.
- Write clear product specs, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Understand technical constraints, dependencies, APIs, integrations, and trade-offs well enough to make informed product decisions.
- Work with engineering to break complex problems into smaller, shippable pieces.
- Use data, experiments, and user feedback to understand what is working and what needs to change.
- Identify opportunities to use technology, automation, and AI to improve products and operational efficiency.
- Balance user needs, business priorities, technical feasibility, and speed of execution.
- Build products that are reliable, scalable, and simple to use.
- Work closely with leadership, technology, design, and operations to move products forward.
What we are looking for
- 3โ4 years of product management experience with a track record of shipping digital products.
- Strong product thinking you can identify the right problem before jumping to solutions.
- Strong technical understanding and comfort working closely with engineers.
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, databases, or technology products.
- Ability to understand technical trade-offs without needing to write the code yourself.
- Strong user research and problem-solving skills.
- Experience defining product requirements, writing specs, and managing product execution.
- Comfort using data and metrics to make product decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity.
- Strong ownership you take responsibility for the outcome, not just the task.
Bonus
- Technical background or previous experience in engineering, software development, data, or a technical role.
- Experience building platforms, marketplaces, communities, or consumer products.
