Responsibilities:
- This product focused position performs established technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area.
- This involves work across many steps in the product life cycle.
- Because of the product centered nature of this position, they are very often a central point of coordination and decision making between product line engineers, customer teams, systems engineers, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing.
- Focus will include working with established product development business processes and supporting and/or executing technical processes with specialized tools required to enable high-quality decision-making.
- Obtains input from stakeholders such as technical managers, project leaders, other product and manufacturing engineers and supplier partners to deliver information and recommendations that lead to high-quality product decisions.
- Applies academic knowledge and existing experience to make decisions and take actions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations.
- Ensures model and drawing quality.
- Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.
- Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.
- Obtains input and negotiates with test plan stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivers an optimized component-based analytical and experimental verification plan to the program or project team.
- Makes decisions in the areas of verification and validation that impact product performance, reliability, and durability.
- Owns problem resolution for basic to moderately-complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services with accountability to the project team.
- Investigates product problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
- Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes.
- Involves minimal direct management of people but could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or temporary student employees.
- Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
Requirements:
- College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Prior entry level engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is preferred.
- To be successful with this role, please focus on submitting candidates who have CAD experience.
