Responsibilities:
- Client’s Building & Campus business delivers end-to-end enterprise networking infrastructure—structured copper and fiber cabling (SYSTIMAX®,
- NETCONNECT®, Uniprise®), powered fiber and automated infrastructure management (imVision®).
- It focuses on high bandwidth, longer distances, smarter visibility/monitoring, faster deployment and large-venue coverage—enabling connected, secure environments across offices, campuses, universities, hospitals, airports and other venues.
- Conceive and develop electrical PCB designs for copper Ethernet connectors and apparatus products with key emphasis in RF signal integrity parameters.
- Define electrical architecture and design methodologies for next-generation copper Ethernet connectors and apparatus products.
- Act as a key contributor and technical leader for electrical design within our business unit.
- Set up simulation models and execute electrical simulations in ANSYS HFSS software.
- Conduct data analysis, document technical findings, and maintain accurate records of design iterations and test results.
- Collaborate with product line managers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing and quality teams to optimize connector designs.
- Apply sound engineering principles, practices, and follow development execution procedures to take a design through the product development life cycle.
- Drive design-for manufacturing strategy and partner with PCB vendors on material selection, tolerances, and advanced fabrication processes.
- Mentor mid to senior level electrical engineers and establish internal standards for high-speed layout and Ethernet specific design practices.
- Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to mitigate risk and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering and 12-15 years of relevant experience or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with 8 years relevant experience.
- Experience in signal transmission design from concept to production release a must.
- Proficiency in using ANSYS HFSS and related analytical tools.
- Proficiency in using DFMEA tools to mitigate design risks.
- Proven experience with PCB design layouts for optimum Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI) and EMC/EMI shielding.
- Expert-level experience with ECAD tools (e.g., PathWave ADS with Layout, Siemens PADS or Altium for PCB layout).
- Deep understanding of PCB manufacturing processes.
- Self-starter that requires only general supervision, having the ability to generate innovative designs, with engineering discipline and attention to detail, striving
- for flawless execution.
- Able to manage multiple projects and navigate through competing priorities.
- Comfortable working in a global team environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues across different time zones, cultures, and functional areas to drive
- project success and innovation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Expertise developing RJ45 connector electrical designs, understanding of industry standards as related to Telecommunications a plus. Examples include IEC
- 60603-7-51 (Cat 6A RJ45 Connectors), TIA 568.2-D (Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling), ISO/IEC 11801 (Structured Cabling Standards) and IEC 60512-99-002 (PoE
- reliability).
- Understanding of Ethernet channel performance metrics (return loss, insertion loss, NEXT, FEXT, TCL, ELTCTL) and their impact on connector design.
- Experience solving technical challenges involving alien crosstalk, return loss, insertion loss and EMI coupling requirements.
- Background in networking, telecom, industrial, or data-center hardware.
- Demonstrated innovation and creativity in product design and process improvement.
- Self-motivated with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound decision-making abilities.
