Waste Control, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a dependablePreventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic to support our fleet operations in Longview,WA. This role focuses on scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet of refuse trucks and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Performpreventive maintenance services and mechanical repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment
• Inspect, diagnose, and repairdiesel engines, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
• Utilizevehicle computer and diagnostic systems to identify failure modes and initiate repairs
• Conductroutine safety inspections to ensure compliance with company, DOT, and OSHA standards
• Review and complete repairs identified onDriver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
• Complete accurate documentation usingfleet maintenance software, including parts usage and labor time
• Respond toservice calls and emergency breakdowns as needed
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and drivers regarding required repairs and vehicle status
• Maintain aclean, organized, and safe work area
• Perform additional maintenance‑related tasks as assigned
• Welding experience preferred but not required

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in heavy truck or diesel equipment maintenance and repair
  OR completion of an accreditedvocational or technical diesel program
• CDL Class A or B is preferred, but not required at time of hire
  • Ability toobtain CDL within 90 days (on‑the‑job CDL paid training available)
• Must supplypersonal mechanical tools and toolbox
  • Shop‑provided onsite tools also available
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and communicate effectively
