TheMaterial Control Lab (MCL) Engineerwill support the development and qualification of new processes to meet or exceed delivery and qualitytargets and willassist in manufacturing readiness for these processes at the Asheville, NC site.Candidatewillassist in metallurgical evaluations as needed andmustdemonstrate hands-on technical skills, interpersonal and team skills, as well asstrong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsibilities will include regular interaction with production, engineering, and MCL personnelto help respond to metallurgical problems, develop effective root cause and corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Position may also require occasional off-shift and weekend coverage based on business requirements and training. 
  • Be an effective team player and contributor utilizing the CORE tools and continues improvement by maintaining EH&S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment.

  • Intermittent travel (2-4 week periods)  will be required for training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various processes including advance aluminides coating, EDM, Weld, braze, grinding used in blade and vanes airfoils.
  • Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports
  • Maintain records, mounts and sample residue retention
  • Monitor testing frequency of all processes
  • Develop cut up and evaluation sheet for all tested parts
  • Perform annual ESA/MCL audit and five years MCL Source Qualification surveys
  • Interacts with other functional groups (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, materials) on routine technical matters.
  • Investigation of various parts and process related problems

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • B.S Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field
  • OR an Associate's degree with 4+ years of related experience
  • OR a High School Diploma/ GED and 6+ years of related experience
  • US citizenship is required due to government contracts.

This position is classified as:

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
