JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for inspecting and maintaining auxiliary equipment that supports the main power generation processes during start up, operation and shutdown. Work involves monitoring system parameters, assisting with performing routine tests and making adjustments and/or preventive maintenance to auxiliary equipment.
Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative. Position exercises some independent judgment in accordance with defined policies, procedures, and techniques.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists operators and monitors auxiliary equipment including pumps, fans, heat exchangers, filters, and water distribution systems
Regularly monitors and controls power plant auxiliary equipment from field programmed inspection routines and reports any action needed to the control room
Installs rotating equipment under mechanical precision guidelines and procedures
Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on auxiliary equipment
Assists in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical and operational issues
Assists with startup, shutdown, and load adjustments of auxiliary systems
Monitors gauges, meters, and control systems to ensure equipment is operating within normal parameters; identifies abnormal conditions and notifies operators or supervisors
Supports maintenance teams during planned outages and repairs
Records operational readings, logs, and shift reports
Reports any accidents, mechanical issues or damage to company equipment promptly to the supervisor
Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals
Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Follows organizational and public safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience in an industrial environment;
OR a combination of experience, certification, education and training that demonstrates expertise in the related areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a steam turbine power plant environment
Bilingual – English and Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of power plant operations and steam cycle processes
Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) workplace practices
Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to controlling and maintaining auxiliary equipment
Skill in the use of applicable department and organization specific software and ability to learn and become proficient in the use of other specialized software as may be required
Skill in using mathematics required for the work
Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane, hoist, various hand & power tools, mechanical precision measuring tools
Ability to operate various hand/power tools, drill presses, threaders, benders, grinders, micrometers, T-squares, levels, and impact wrenches
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment
Ability to read gauges, meters, and basic process diagrams
Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and team leader
Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team
Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, orally and in writing
Ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols and perform job functions in a safe manner
Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, while maintaining consistent performance and adherence to operational standards

Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity. Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.
