Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PMP-certified Project Leader to lead a major Quality Claims System implementation within a large healthcare organization.
This is a highly visible enterprise initiative requiring a seasoned project leader who can manage a complex system implementation from planning through execution, deployment, and stabilization.
The successful candidate will work across Business, Technology, Operations, Quality, Claims, and other stakeholder groups to ensure successful implementation and alignment with organizational objectives.
This is not simply a project coordination role. The ideal candidate will have successfully led large-scale system implementations, managed multiple workstreams and senior-level stakeholders, and understands the complexities associated with healthcare claims and quality-related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of a Quality Claims System, including planning, execution, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, budgets, risks, and timelines.
- Coordinate multiple business and technology workstreams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Partner with stakeholders across Claims, Quality, Operations, IT, and other business functions.
- Establish project governance, reporting, escalation procedures, and communication strategies.
- Facilitate meetings with project teams, business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Manage scope and change-control processes to keep the implementation aligned with established objectives.
- Track project performance and provide clear status reporting to senior leadership.
- Drive accountability across project teams and ensure milestones and deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Support testing, implementation readiness, deployment planning, and organizational adoption.
- Ensure a successful transition from implementation into ongoing business operations.
Required Qualifications
- Current PMP certification required.
- Significant experience leading large, complex enterprise system implementations.
- Strong project/program management experience within healthcare, health insurance, managed care, or a closely related environment .
- Experience working with claims systems, claims operations, healthcare quality systems, or related healthcare technology platforms.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional business and technology teams.
- Experience overseeing multiple concurrent workstreams, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proven ability to lead projects involving significant organizational and technology change.
- Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies, governance, risk management, and change control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Health insurance/payer experience.
- Experience implementing or transforming enterprise claims platforms.
- Experience working with healthcare quality initiatives and associated systems.
- Experience managing third-party technology vendors and implementation partners.
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Experience presenting project status, risks, recommendations, and decisions to senior or executive leadership.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level project leader who can take ownership of a complex implementation rather than simply administer a project plan.
The candidate should be comfortable navigating a large enterprise organization, challenging stakeholders when necessary, identifying risks proactively, and driving teams toward decisions and deliverables.
Candidates combining healthcare payer/claims experience, major system implementation experience, and PMP certification will be especially strong fits.
