As a Platform Customer Engineer, you are far more than a technical expert; you will be a proactive advisor and creative technologist who brings energy and strong commercial acumen to every engagement. In this role, you will self-initiate to serve as the crucial bridge between our customers' engineering and business ambitions and the power of cloud technology.

In this direct technical pre-sales role, you will help leading automotive manufacturers and suppliers modernize operations, from engineering workflows to the factory floor. By applying modern cloud data platforms, edge computing architectures, and enterprise agentic AI (including agent development, agentic orchestration, and automated workflows), you will design scalable, pragmatic solutions that address high-impact challenges such as smart manufacturing, automated technical diagnostics, quality inspection, and operational efficiency.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
• Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms.
• Experience with conversational agents and generative AI concepts (large language models, fine tuning, agentic systems, grounding, function calling, and orchestration), development workflows, and use cases.
• Experience in addressing customers from the automotive or manufacturing vertical.
• Ability to communicate in English and German fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• Experience applying cloud technologies and AI solutions to solve business challenges within the manufacturing or automotive industries.
• Practical experience designing and implementing architectures, data pipelines, or agentic AI workflows (e.g., custom agents, retrieval-augmented systems, multi-agent frameworks).
• Experience proactively identifying and developing business opportunities in a technical sales or consulting role.
• Ability to present complex techno-functional information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery sessions and architectural discussions with customer stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities, collaborating with specialized teams on complex engagements.
• Build and present compelling proofs-of-concept demonstrating the value of modern data pipelines and next-generation AI (including generative AI applications, intelligent agents, and automated workflows).
• Guide customers in architecting secure, scalable cloud and edge solutions that bridge enterprise systems and operational environments.
• Partner closely with Sales teams to qualify opportunities, formulate technical account strategies, and articulate quantifiable business value.
• Represent the customer to Google Cloud engineering and product teams to guide ongoing solution development and share real-world industry feedback.
