Context | The Role
Quality code and products that change lives are the key principles that Platform45 is built on. As anIntermediate Software QA Engineer, you will support the quality assurance efforts of the team andensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. You will bring hands-on experience in bothmanual and automated testing, a solid understanding of testing methodologies, and the ability to contribute to excellence within the QA team. You will work closely with senior QA engineers,developers, and product managers.
Test Strategy and Planning
• Contribute to test strategies, plans, and processes in alignment with project objectives.
• Identify high-risk areas and prioritise testing effort accordingly.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects.
• Test early and often, integrating quality practices from the earliest stages of development.
Manual and Automated Testing
• Perform manual testing by executing exploratory, functional, regression, and usability tests to validaterequirements and uncover edge cases.
• Document findings clearly, ensuring reproducibility and actionable feedback for the team.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard frameworks, focusingon scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Ensure automated suites are integrated into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing wherepossible.
Test Execution and Management
• Execute test cases, ensuring coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Manage test environments, data, and configurations to support testing.
• Monitor and report on test execution progress and results.
• Log and track test outcomes for traceability.
• Use test management tools to document execution and reporting.API Testing
• Design and execute API test cases using Postman or equivalent tools.
• Validation of payloads/status codes and negative cases.
Performance and Load Testing
• Contribute to load and stress testing using tools such as k6.
• Analyse results and provide recommendations for optimisation.
Defect Management
• Identify, document, and prioritise software defects.
• Ensure defects are clearly reproducible with proper steps, data, and evidence (screenshots/logs).
• Collaborate with developers to drive resolution and verify fixes through regression testing.
• Take ownership of test coverage, defect reporting, and follow-through.
• Track defect trends and metrics to highlight recurring issues or quality risks.
Process Optimisation
• Recommend and implement improvements to QA processes.
• Maintain clear and concise documentation to support knowledge sharing.
• Demonstrate adaptability by learning new tools and practices as QA evolves.
Collaboration and Communication
• Build strong relationships with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on quality objectives.
• Communicate QA progress, risks, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions or QA reviews with peers.
• Participate actively in cross-functional ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) to represent QA.
• Help bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks including Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium for web, and Appium for mobileÂ
or Maestro for mobile.
• Experience with API testing using Postman.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/GitLab).
• Working knowledge of performance testing tools such as k6.
• Ability to read and write automated test scripts in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Proficiency with browser developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools), including interpreting Console andNetwork tabs for debugging and analysis.
• Understanding of version control with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, and codereviews.
• Experience with test management tools such as Qase for planning, execution, and reporting.
