Plant Operator – Rotating Shifts

Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Schedule: Rotating Swing Shift – Days, Afternoons, Nights & Weekends
Hours: Typically 36–48 hours per week
Shift Length: 8- or 12-hour shifts

Position Overview

We are seeking reliable, safety-focused Plant Operators to support manufacturing operations at an industrial facility in Niagara Falls, NY.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position responsible for operating and monitoring production equipment, performing quality checks, collecting production data, troubleshooting basic equipment and process issues, and supporting the safe and efficient operation of the plant.

Operators may work across multiple production processes and equipment, including mixing, extrusion, crushing, kilns, dryers, mills, and related industrial systems.

Candidates must be highly flexible regarding scheduling. This operation uses a rotating swing-shift schedule that can include days, afternoons, nights, weekends, overtime, and both 8- and 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant and production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow production work orders, standard operating procedures, and established process requirements.
• Monitor equipment and manufacturing processes throughout the shift.
• Perform routine quality checks and inspections.
• Collect production samples as required.
• Accurately record production and process data.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment or process problems.
• Perform minor equipment repairs as appropriate.
• Support production processes involving mixing, extrusion, crushing, kilns, dryers, mills, and other industrial equipment.
• Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
• Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Wear required PPE and maintain awareness of industrial hazards.
• Participate in safety audits and continuous-improvement activities.
• Support compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, TQM principles, and environmental requirements.
• Maintain clean and organized equipment and production areas.
• Assist with general plant cleaning, restocking, and waste disposal.
• Safely operate forklifts when qualified.
• Work collaboratively with operators, production employees, plant personnel, and management.
• Perform additional production and plant-support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or plant environment preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and production issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow work orders, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently when required.
• Comfortable working around industrial equipment and hazardous materials.
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety practices.
• Ability to work under pressure in an active production environment.
• Open availability and flexibility to work rotating shifts is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous light or industrial manufacturing experience.
• Experience operating production or process equipment.
• Familiarity with OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Experience with LOTO procedures.
• Forklift experience.
• Valid forklift license/certification or ability to obtain one.
• Experience with mixing, extrusion, crushing, kilns, dryers, mills, or similar industrial processes.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

• Lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Climb ladders and stairs, including work at heights.
• Perform physical production activities throughout the shift.
• Safely work around industrial machinery and equipment.
• Wear required PPE.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed inside an industrial manufacturing plant.
