The Photographer Manager is a hybrid role that mixes leadership, training, recruiting, standards, and field support. You’ll be the go-to person who keeps sales, ops, and photographers aligned, so what we promise is exactly what gets delivered (every time).
A core part of this role is reviewing media and coaching photographers to make sure everything matches Nordy’s spec guides and any partner-specific requirements. You’ll be looking at:
- Overall media quality (photo + video)
- Equipment choices + camera settings
- Angles, composition, and consistency
- Editing quality and alignment with Nordy standards
This role is equal parts coach, systems-builder, and quality control—and you’ll also jump into the field when needed (typically ~2 days/week, more during peak season or coverage gaps).
What You’ll Be Doing – A Day in the Life
Field Work & Photography (≈2 days/week)
- Shoot all types of media — residential, builders, drones, Matterport tours, and videos.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on-site when needed, supporting the operations team with cameras, lighting, drones, or Matterport setups.
Training & Onboarding (Virtual)
- Interview, vet, and help onboard new photographers.
- Develop and update virtual training materials (videos, guides, quizzes) accessible anytime by photographers.
- Assess trainee readiness and certify them before they go live.
- Create new training content as we add partners or products, and refine existing materials as needed.
Quality Assurance & Feedback
- Review all delivered media to ensure it follows Nordy’s spec guides and partner-specific standards.
- Check for:
- Overall media quality
- Equipment selection and camera settings
- Shooting angles and composition
- Consistency and quality of editing by the post-production team
- Provide direct, actionable feedback to photographers.
- Flag issues and make decisions about reshoots when needed.
- Initially, review work daily to bring existing photographers up to standard; later, focus on new hires, new partners, and occasional spot checks.
Process & SOPs
- Maintain, update, and create SOPs for all Nordy services.
- Document both general Nordy standards and client-specific requirements.
- Train photographers on updated SOPs and translate lessons learned into improved processes.
Management
- Directly manage a team of contract photographers, handling performance evaluations, corrective actions, and hiring recommendations.
- Provide 1:1 virtual coaching and guidance to support growth and alignment with Nordy standards.
Communication & Liaison Work
- Act as the bridge between sales, operations, and photographers.
- Support operations in troubleshooting internal issues and occasionally weigh in on client-related questions if needed.
- Promote a positive, solutions-oriented culture with photographers and the broader Nordy team.
Who You Are
- Experienced real estate photographer (3+ years) with strong technical mastery, including drones (licensed), drone video, Matterport, and exposure/bracketing skills.
- A natural coach and teacher who can find different ways of explaining concepts clearly, verbally, visually, and in writing.
- Process-minded and detail-oriented; capable of turning complex workflows into clear, step-by-step SOPs.
- Calm under pressure, constructive with feedback, and a positive influence on peers.
- Strong communicator who can advocate for clients while protecting Nordy’s standards.
- Growth-minded and curious, always staying up to date on industry trends and best practices.
Success Metrics
- Fewer errors, reshoots, and editing revisions.
- Faster onboarding and ramp-up for new photographers.
- Consistent quality across markets and services.
- Clear alignment between client expectations, sales promises, and delivered media.
- Photographers feel supported, trained, and confident working with Nordy.
- Training tools and SOPs scale seamlessly as Nordy grows.
