Job Summary:
We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist with a passion for technology to join our team as an Epic Pharmacy Analyst. In this role, you will bridge the gap between clinical pharmacy practice and information technology. You will be responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of our Epic Willow (Inpatient and/or Ambulatory) application. Utilizing your clinical background, you will ensure that our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system supports safe, efficient, and evidence-based medication management workflows across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
· System Build & Configuration: Design, build, and maintain Epic Willow components, including medication records (ERXs), order sets, smart text, charging structures, and clinical decision support tools.
· Workflow Optimization: Analyze complex clinical pharmacy workflows and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, IT) to optimize medication ordering, dispensing, and administration processes.
· Troubleshooting & Support: Provide tier-2 and tier-3 application support, investigating and resolving hardware, software, and workflow integration errors or system glitches.
· Application & Go-Live Support: Provide tier-2 and tier-3 application support. Actively participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule to resolve critical system issues. Work varied shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) as needed to provide support during system go-lives, upgrades, and major rollouts.
· System Testing & Upgrades: Plan and execute thorough unit, system, and integration testing for Epic upgrades, new releases, and custom build modifications.
· Smart Pump & Third-Party Integration: Maintain and build interfaces between Epic and pharmacy automation systems, including automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis/Omnicell) and smart infusion pump drug libraries.
· Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure all system builds adhere to pharmacy laws, HIPAA, DEA regulations, and patient safety standards (ISMP).
· End-User Training: Author technical documentation and collaborate with educators to train pharmacy staff and clinicians on new Epic features and system workflows.
Required Qualifications:
· Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
· Licensure: Active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in the hiring state (or eligibility for reciprocity within 3 months of hire).
· Experience:Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical or operational hospital pharmacy experience.
· Epic Certification: Active certification in Epic Willow Inpatient or Epic Willow Ambulatory ishighly preferred. (Note: Candidates with strong clinical backgrounds and proficiency/readiness to achieve certification within 6 months of hire may be considered.)
Preferred Skills & Competencies
· Informatics Experience: Prior experience in pharmacy informatics, system analysis, or EHR implementation highly preferred.
· Analytical Mindset: Strong data validation, Excel data analysis, and logical problem-solving skills are a MUST.
· Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills to effectively translate complex clinical workflows into technical requirements.
· Collaborative Nature: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional IT and clinical teams under minimal supervision.
