The Facility - Nashville VA Medical Center (Tennessee Valley Healthcare System)
The Nashville VA Medical Center is the primary hospital within the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, providing comprehensive care to veterans across Tennessee and surrounding regions. It is a full-service, tertiary care facility offering both inpatient and outpatient services.

Perfusionist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Provide perfusion services in line with ABCP, TJC, and AHA standards.
- Maintain quality of care meeting or exceeding recognized national standards.
- Assist the Cardio-Thoracic surgical team with bypass surgeries, valve replacements, and other cardiac procedures.
- Operate and monitor heart-lung machines, ensuring proper extracorporeal circulation and patient stability.
- Prepare and manage VA-owned cardiovascular support equipment, including intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices.
- Ensure sterile technique and a safe operating environment.
- Must be board-certified through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
- Graduated from an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology.
- Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Must have certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum of 10 years with at least 1000 clinical cases, including demonstrated experience in the following areas: Open heart surgery, autotransfusion, heart lung machine, membrane oxygenation, left/right heart bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
