Madison sits on an isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, with the State Capitol at its center and the University of Wisconsin–Madison on the lakeshore. About the Facility – William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital
The Madison VA is a tertiary care teaching hospital on the University of Wisconsin campus, closely affiliated with UW Health. Its cardiothoracic surgery service performs adult bypass and valve surgery and supports advanced mechanical circulatory support for Veterans across Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Perfusionist – RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to)
- Provide perfusion for the cardiothoracic surgery service: cardiopulmonary bypass and valve replacement cases
- Review the patient record and the surgeon's plan of care before each case
- Prepare, operate and maintain the heart-lung machine, autotransfusion (cell saver), intra-aortic balloon pump and centrifugal ventricular assist devices
- Monitor and manage anticoagulation, blood gases and hemodynamics during bypass
- Document each case accurately and participate in quality and safety programs
- Take call as scheduled and respond to emergent cases
- Board Certified Clinical Perfusionist (ABCP CCP), current
- Graduate of an accredited perfusion program
- Current, unrestricted perfusion license in any U.S. state where licensure applies
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Adult cardiac surgery experience; IABP and VAD experience preferred
- Authorized to work in the United States
Full-time, day shift Monday–Friday, plus a shared call rotation. Long-term contract.
