The Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System (OPPRS) proudly serves approximately 11,000 active, inactive, and retired members and beneficiaries. Managing over $3.9 billion in assets, our dedicated team ensures the long-term financial security of Oklahoma’s law enforcement community. We are currently seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Accountant II to join our financial team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Ledger Management: Prepare, review, and post various journals, ledgers, and fiscal accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Analyze and present comprehensive financial statements and expenditure reports.
- Accounts Payable & Compliance: Review and approve vouchers and invoices to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Budget & Fund Management: Analyze agency budget requirements and allocate funds to proper accounts or organizational functions.
- Payroll Processing: Prepare and manage agency payroll data.
- Data Analysis: Interpret complex financial data to support operational decision-making.
REQUIRED SKILLS OF ACCOUNTANT II (items that are bolded below in required skills, are non-negotiable)
- Certified Procurement Officer
- Knowledge of Oklahoma’s People Soft program – Accounts Payables and Payroll
- Knowledge of Treasurer’s Modernization Program
- Self motivated and works well with other staff
- Good communication skills both oral and written
- Knowledge of working in other types of databases
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories; of financial statements and reports; of accounting ledgers and journals; and of computer technology related to accounting systems.
- Ability is required to prepare basic financial statements and reports; to review and analyze financial information; and to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and demonstrated ability to perform highly independent work, make independent decisions and resolve complex accounting and financial problems.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Consist of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.
- Previous employment with the State of Oklahoma is a must

COMPENSATION
$65,000 to $75,000 based on experience and qualifications
