Patient Advocate /Financial Counselor - LCHC DENTAL

DEFINITION: 

     The Patient Advocate /financial counselor obtains required information for determination of insurance coverage, qualification for coverage or financial screening for sliding fee scale eligibility. The Enrollment/ Financial Counselor promotes the mission of the health center by informing patients of their ability to receive care at fees in proportion to their ability to pay.

The Enrollment/Financial Counselor ensures that:

If no coverage, patient is assisted with determination to qualify for insurance coverage, Medicaid/Medicare or sliding fee scale.

Assures that the patient knows what their liability will be for their care: to include co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles OR discussing sliding fee scale and the process of applying for sliding fee scale financial assistance.

The Patient Advocate is also the primary liaison with patients who are not fully satisfied with their experience at LCHC and works to resolve any problems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic computer and data entry skills, able to type 35 WPM and 10-key calculator.

Knowledge of windows and familiarity with internet applications. 

Demonstrated ability to work with the public and understands service recovery. 

Prior experience processing clients.

Ability to organize, communicate and perform detailed functions required.

Medical Terminology, helpful.

Customer service experience.

High School Diploma preferred.
