Patient Access Representative

As the first impression for Syracuse Area Health patients and visitors, the Patient Access Representative creates a welcoming environment by performing reception services to all who enter. This includes but is not limited to: answering and directing phone calls, greeting, assisting and directing patients and visitors who enter the medical facility. This role conducts timely admissions for all patients, updates patient insurance and identification information as needed to aid in future admissions, and resolves miscellaneous account discrepancies to ensure accurate billing by the Business Office. 

Hours are Wednesdays from 8:00am-4:30pm, with additional days as needed to meet staffing and scheduling needs. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous reception or admissions experience
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Must possess good computer and data entry skill
• Word processing; Excel knowledge, and basic Windows-based computer skills
• Must have knowledge of professional and accurate telephone answering techniques
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
