Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Approach Museum guests and invite them to participate in research or evaluation studies by completing a survey or interview.
  • Follow the data collection protocol, including how to approach guests to ensure random sampling, what information to share, and how to track response rates.
  • Collect survey data from an average of 4 to 5 guests per scheduled hour, when supported by adequate visitation
  • Reliably and accurately gather data at scheduled times so that collection meets monthly goals and effectively informs programmatic and resource decisions.
  • Respond to guest questions to support a positive Museum experience.
  • Work a rotating schedule across different days and times each week to support representative sampling of Museum visitors.
  • Provide at least five days’ advance notice of personal schedule changes so the data collection schedule can be adjusted.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Experience working with customers or in public-facing positions.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to navigate and triage general guest questions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and consistently with guests and Museum staff.
  • Comfortable approaching guests for surveys and interviews.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently once trained.
  • Adept with technology, specifically an iPad or tablet.

Preferred Experience:

  • Fluent in English required; bilingual Spanish preferred. 

 

Benefits:

This part-time position is not eligible for the Museum’s employee benefits package.

 

Position Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt (20 to 30 hours per month)

 

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

 

Schedule: Flexible and rotating. To reach a broad, representative mix of visitors, shifts vary from week to week across different days and times, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings, rather than falling in the same slot each week. Shifts will range from 2 to 3 hours per scheduled day.

  • Ability to stand and move through Museum galleries and public spaces for extended periods
  • Ability to approach and verbally engage guests throughout a scheduled shift
  • Visual acuity to read written materials and a tablet screen
  • Ability to use a tablet for extended periods of time
