Job Title: Paralegal / Legal Secretary - 26-00297

Direct Hire - Mansfield, Ohio - $37,000-$50,000

Spherion Mid Ohio, in partnership withan established law firm in Mansfield, Ohio, is seeking aParalegal / Legal Secretary to join their growing team. Salary offered is up to $50,000 annually with benefits, paid time off, and opportunity for bonus.

*This is aDIRECT HIRE opportunity into the law firm. There is no probationary or temp to hire period.*

Overview:
The goal of this position is to support the attorneys and legal team while helping ensure the efficiency, reliability, consistency, and professionalism of office procedures and case management.

Schedule and Location:
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00
  • Full time and fully onsite in Mansfield, Ohio office

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative, clerical, and legal support to attorneys under their supervision.
  • Assist attorneys with assigned legal cases and matters from intake through resolution.
  • Prepare, organize, proofread, and maintain legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and other case materials.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files.
  • Assist with court filings and other legal filings as directed by attorneys.
  • Monitor deadlines, court dates, hearings, appointments, and other important case-related dates.
  • Utilize electronic court-filing systems and other legal technology.
  • Interface with Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, and other governmental or third-party portals as required.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, medical providers, medical record providers, insurance representatives, and other individuals involved in legal matters.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, and other legal proceedings.
  • Prepare and compile exhibits for use in cases
  • Request, gather, organize, review and summarize client medical records
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other documents as requested.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate case-management information.
  • Answer telephone calls and assist clients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain highest level of confidentiality of client information and sensitive legal matters.
  • Assist with general office and administrative duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the attorneys.
 
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience as alegal secretary and/or paralegal preferred.
  • Experience working in a legal office or within the legal system strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and the court system.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and master electronic case management system.
  • Ability to effectively utilize legal technology, including electronic court-filing systems and Medicare and Medicaid portals.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Strong writing, grammar, proofreading, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in afast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to interact professionally and comfortably with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning as a productive and cooperative team member.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent work attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Legal Secretary and/or Paralegal certification or diploma is a plus, butnot required.
