TIG Welder

Location: Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Rate: Up to €30 per hour, depending on experience.

Our client, a well-established precision fabrication company based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, is currently seeking an experiencedTIG Welder to join their fabrication team.

The successful candidate will carry out high-quality TIG welding and finishing work, with a particular focus on stainless steel and light-gauge materials. This position requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce clean, precise welds to a high standard.

The company supports customers across the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced welder looking for a permanent position within a precision-focused workshop environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals as required.

• Work accurately with light-gauge materials and precision-fabricated components.

• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications.

• Prepare materials and weld joints accurately prior to welding.

• Assemble and weld fabricated components and structures to the required standards.

• Carry out pre-weld preparation and post-weld finishing, including grinding and polishing.

• Visually inspect completed welds and identify and correct defects where required.

• Ensure completed work meets specified dimensions, tolerances and quality requirements.

• Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe and effective working condition.

• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.

• Follow all relevant health, safety and quality procedures.

• Proven professional TIG welding experience.

• Strong experience weldingstainless steel to high-quality, fine-tolerance standards.

• Experience working withlight-gauge materials, typically in the region of 1mm to 5mm thickness.

• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

• Strong knowledge of weld preparation, welding techniques and finishing processes.

• Experience with grinding and polishing to achieve clean, high-quality finishes.

• Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

• Good understanding of fabrication processes and material properties.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team.

• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Desirable

• Experience welding mild steel and aluminium in addition to stainless steel.

• Previous experience within pharmaceutical, medical device, food or other high-specification manufacturing environments.

• Broader fabrication or sheet metal experience.
