JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Business Systems Analyst to join Ohio Valley Electrical Services.

Operating across multiple divisions, including electrical contracting, engineering, power services, control panel fabrication, and civil excavating, our operations are varied, and our software and process landscape has grown organically alongside the business. We are looking for someone who can work directly with our teams, understand how work actually gets done day to day, and build practical tools and process improvements that let our existing staff accomplish more without adding headcount. This is an individual contributor role for someone who combines genuine business process instincts with enough technical ability to prototype and build solutions themselves, or to competently scope and evaluate work built by others.

1 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Spend time directly embedded with teams across divisions, including project managers, estimators, shop personnel, and field crews, to observe and document how work is actually performed.
2. Build and maintain a prioritized backlog of process-improvement opportunities based on time saved, error reduction, and impact across departments.
3. Design, prototype, and build lightweight internal tools, dashboards, and automations to address identified inefficiencies, using modern development practices and AI-assisted development tools where appropriate.
4. Develop or improve tools that support proposal writing, project take-offs, and estimating workflows for the contracting division.
5. Develop tools and processes that improve communication and information flow between field staff and the office.
6. Where a larger, department-specific software need is identified, lead its development, either by building it directly or by scoping the work for and reviewing the output of outside developers or contractors.
7. Evaluate the company’s current software footprint (including SharePoint, BambooHR, Ving, and Field) to identify redundancy, overlap, and opportunities to consolidate into a more unified set of tools.
8. Lead rollout, training, and adoption of new tools and process changes across departments, gathering real world feedback and iterating accordingly.
9. Partner with leaders across Contracting, Power Services, Panel Shop, Civil, and Engineering to prioritize and scope improvement projects.
10. Track and report on the impact of implemented solutions, including time saved and adoption across affected teams.
11. Stay current on emerging tools and platforms, including AI-assisted development and automation tools, and evaluate their practical application to company workflows.

2 QUALIFICATIONS
ˆ Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, information systems, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
ˆ Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience combining business process analysis with hands-on technical or software development work.
ˆ Demonstrated ability to build functional tools, scripts, or applications, or to closely partner with and vet the work of developers who do.
ˆ Track record of mapping business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and delivering solutions that were actually adopted.
ˆ Comfortable working directly with tradespeople, field staff, and office staff of varying technical backgrounds to understand real workflows firsthand.
ˆ Proven self-starter, able to independently identify opportunities and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
ˆ Experience with software vendor evaluation or consolidation is a plus.
ˆ Familiarity with construction or contracting industry software (e.g., project management, HRIS, document management, or field service platforms) is a plus.

3 SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills
ˆ Proficient in at least one general-purpose or scripting language sufficient to build and troubleshoot functional applications.
ˆ Experience with low-code, no-code, or AI-assisted development tools to rapidly prototype and ship solutions.
ˆ Working understanding of databases, APIs, and system integrations.
ˆ Able to read, review, and evaluate code or technical work produced by contractors, vendors, or AI tools for quality and reliability.
ˆ Comfortable working across a broad ecosystem of business software spanning project management, HR, document management, and field operations.
Work Style & Initiative
ˆ Self-directed and motivated: able to identify what needs to be done, prioritize based on real impact, and follow through without requiring close direction.
ˆ Comfortable spending significant time on the ground with field and shop teams rather than working solely from a desk.
ˆ Pragmatic: prioritizes based on impact versus effort rather than technical novelty.
ˆ Takes ownership of assigned areas and brings well-reasoned recommendations to leadership rather than waiting to be told what to do next.
ˆ Earns trust and buy-in through consistent follow-through, clear communication, and sound judgment.
Communication & Collaboration
ˆ Clear written and verbal communicator, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and leadership in plain language.
ˆ Builds positive working relationships across departments and divisions with varying levels of technical familiarity, including field and shop personnel.
ˆ Maintains strong documentation habits for processes, tools, and recommendations.
ˆ Adaptable and composed in a fast-paced, multi-division environment with shifting priorities.

4 GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
As process and technology initiatives prove out across the organization, this role has the potential to grow in scope, and may lead to building and leading a small team focused on business systems and operational efficiency.

5 COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
ˆ Salary Range: $75,000-85,000
ˆ Benefits:
– 401(k) with company matching
– Health insurance paid 100% by Employer
– Dental and Vision insurance
– Paid time off and holidays
– Professional development assistance
– Profit sharing
– Referral program
