FTI is searching for aMechanical Engineer to support theProduct Engineeringteam located in Menasha, WI. The Mechanical Engineer willberesponsible fordesigningand/or specifyingmechanical and electro-mechanical parts and assembliesthat will beusedwithinproductsthat are usedwithin the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets. 

 

The Mechanical Engineerwill support the Design Engineering teamin the designand qualification ofmechanical components, sub-systems,multi-level assemblies,andsystem architecture of various products that are used withinthe energyindustry. This position will also work with other disciplines within theorganization to understand customer and market requirements,designproducts to be easy to both manufacture and assemble, supportproducts as they go through the Product Development Process, andsupport service and aftermarket needs.  

 

Thispositionwill work within the Design Engineering team and need to coordinate their work with other individuals to meet project requirements, timelines, and goals. The ability to understand high-level requirements and create detail-level requirements and designswill be key to meeting project objectives. Thisposition willrequire anunderstandingofdrawing standards, Change Notice practices,andthe ability tocreate Bills of Materials based on their design output.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree inMechanical Engineering or equivalent  
  • Internship or 6 months of work experience
  • Working knowledgein 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo) 
  • Design experience with structural enclosures, mechanical assemblies, HVAC systems, mechanical piping, firefighting systems, and power generation 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics 
  • Experience inBill of Materialcreation and Change Noticeprocesses 
  • Experience inmechanical components or equipment within the energy industry 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Experience in the design and development of electrical components 
  • PLC programming experience 
  • 2 yearsofproduct design experience preferred

Travel: 10-25%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

Work Location: This role requires work to be done Onsite from our Menasha, WI office.  Our onsite roles include a high level of workplace and schedule flexibility to support a healthy work-life balance.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reviewstechnical drawings andmechanicalspecifications toensureproper application of products withinmechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. 
    • Supports the design of mechanical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, general layouts, assembly design and installation. 
    • Performs detailed design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements.  
    • Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed.   
    • Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, mechanical layouts, mechanical component prints, mechanical assemblies, and compliance documents.Interacts withthe Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineeringstaff on a regular basis. 
    • Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews.  
    • Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components. 
    • Supports the creation of complex3D layouts oftop-level and sub-level assemblies. 
    • Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity andconfigurability of products. 
    • PrepareBills of MaterialsandprepareChange Notices to release componentsand assemblies.  
    • Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level. 
    • Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products. 
    • Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy toestablished drawing and designspecifications and standards. 
    • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along withproductionsupport as needed. 
    • Works with suppliers tointegrate various components intohigher level system designs. 
    • Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed. 
    • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
