Transforming the Future of Enterprise Planning

At o9, our mission is to be the Most Value-Creating Platform for enterprises by transforming decision-making through our AI-first approach. By integrating siloed planning capabilities and capturing millions—even billions—in value leakage, we help businesses plan smarter and faster.

This not only enhances operational efficiency but also reduces waste, leading to better outcomes for both businesses and the planet. Global leaders like Google, PepsiCo, Walmart, T-Mobile, AB InBev, and Starbucks trust o9 to optimize their supply chains.

About the role:

As a release manager, the role requires a good level of technical understanding and goes beyond sprint planning and tracking delivery. The Release Manager owns end-to-end governance of code and configuration promotion across the program from Build through Cutover to Technical Go-Live (TGL) that is, all pre-production config movements: Dev, Dev Master, QA/Test, and Prod Master, up to and including the Production release itself.

The role is the single point of control for what moves between pre-production environments, when it moves, and under what approval — ensuring every promotion is planned, reviewed, sequenced, evidenced, and auditable. This includes formal sign-off authority at each release gate (Gate 0: User Story Go/No-
Go → Dev → Dev Master → QA/Test → Prod Master → Prod), ownership of release documentation and versioning and enforcement of segregation of duties so that no one promotes their own change to production.

The Release Manager's accountability ends at Technical Go-Live — once a release is successfully promoted and stable in production, ownership passes out of this role. The Release Manager owns the pre-production release pipeline — and the evidence trail behind it — up to TGL. The role is a compliance trade-off by design: it improves release quality, which requires that time for gate reviews and evidence checks be planned into the delivery calendar rather than treated as absorbable slack.

Role:Delivery Release Manager/Senior

Location: Bangalore, Hybrid

What you’ll do for us…

1. Release Management

  • Own and publish the release calendar and governance framework — from Gate 0 (User Story Go/No-Go) through Gate 5 (Production release) — covering Dev, Dev Master, QA/Test, Prod Master, and Production environments, up to Technical Go-Live.

  • Act as the sole authority for Go/No-Go decisions on every code/config promotion, enforcing strict segregation of duties so that no one promotes their own change to production, while upholding a fixed-timeline, variable-scope release model.

  • Partner closely with Solution Architects to define the code/config promotion strategy for major releases, minor releases, and defect fixes, then govern and enforce adherence to that agreed strategy through the gate process.

  • Manage build and bug-fix migrations end-to-end — reviewing readiness, auditing trackers, approving promotion packages, maintaining User Story-to-Package-to-Release traceability in Jira, and running the expedited P1 pre-go-live fix procedure.

  • Coordinate environment and release-path needs to tenant/environment, resets/data refreshes, and regional roll-outs.

  • Own release documentation, naming/versioning conventions, and escalation processes — ensuring critical migration issues are logged and tracked through L1/L2/L3 SLAs, RCA and learnings are documented, and all trackers remain audit-ready.

2. Infra Management

  • Own tenant inventory, ownership mapping, and lifecycle management across Dev, SIT, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments, including provisioning, cloning, refreshing, restoring, and decommissioning as needed.

  • Plan and forecast infrastructure sizing — tenant, Live Server, and disk capacity — ahead of upcoming releases based on data volume, scenario, and workload projections, while evaluating environment/tenant strategy trade-offs.

  • Monitor platform performance using tools such as Tenant Vitals and ELK, tracking Kubernetes microservices and tenant/server memory & CPU utilization, and lead root-cause analysis for production incidents such as memory spikes, batch-job failures, and configuration bugs.

  • Drive infrastructure cost and reliability initiatives — including data retention optimization, dimension/transactional data clean-up, scenario rationalization, and infra tuning such as partitioning, right-sizing, and decommissioning legacy components.

  • Own planning and execution of quarterly platform upgrades and patch upgrades across Pre-Production and Production, coordinating with Customer Success and ensuring post-upgrade validation and sign-off.

  • Manage the infrastructure budget and SaaS contract — tracking spend against budget, monitoring licensed capacity and entitlements, identifying cost efficiencies, and reporting cost trends and savings to leadership.

3. Project Management

  • Own the complete project lifecycle — from inception to deployment to value delivery — gaining exposure to customers across industry verticals such as FMCG, Consumer Goods, and Retail.

  • If involved during the sales cycle, develop detailed estimates of effort, timelines, resource needs, and platform-sizing requirements to help build a robust Statement of Work (SOW) with the help of required stakeholders in o9.

  • Create a comprehensive project plan and align customer and o9 stakeholders on jointly developed milestones, timelines, and resource commitments.

  • Lead the cross-functional project team — comprising software vendors, customers, o9, and partners — to accomplish deliverables, proactively mitigate risks, and communicate any deviations from the plan.

  • Partner with the o9 product team to drive resolution of bugs and enhancement requests identified from project design through the deployment stage, using tools such as the o9 platform, Excel, Azure DevOps, Asana, MPP, and JIRA.

  • Continually engage customers to manage priorities and expectations, provide thought leadership on designs and best practices, ensure timely communication on progress and concerns, and drive SLA adherence plus upside/expansion opportunities, while ensuring a smooth knowledge-transfer handover to Support post go-live.

What you’ll have…

1. Release Management

  • 6–10 years in IT release, environment, or configuration management, ideally on an ERP, IBP, or supply-chain planning platform such as o9, SAP IBP, or Kinaxis/ SaaS.

  • Hands-on experience with GIT-based branching models or platform-native code/config promotion pipelines across multiple environments, including multi-tenant and multi-region setups.

  • Proven track record running structured release cadences and go-live support for multi-workstream programs, including expedited P1 hotfix procedures without compromising the main release train.

  • Working knowledge of ADO/Jira (including User Story-package-release traceability workflows), test-management tools such as Qtest, and DevOps/ticketing systems.

  • Strong governance mindset — comfortable holding a promotion until prerequisites are met, even under delivery pressure, and clearly communicating quality/speed trade-offs to stakeholders.

  • Excellent cross-functional coordination skills across Config/Stream Leads, DevOps, Infra, Platform/Dev teams, and PMO; direct experience with the o9 platform and CAB/audit processes is a plus.

2. Infra Management

  • Proven experience with infrastructure/tenant sizing, provisioning, and lifecycle management on enterprise SaaS or cloud-based planning platforms, ideally o9 or similar.

  • Hands-on expertise with monitoring and observability tools such as Tenant Vitals, ELK, and Kubernetes, along with strong root-cause analysis and incident-management capabilities.

  • Experience driving infrastructure cost-optimization initiatives, including data retention/archival strategies, data clean-up, and server right-sizing or partitioning.

  • Experience planning and executing platform upgrades and patches with minimal business disruption, in close coordination with Customer Success and other stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure budgeting and SaaS contract management, including capacity entitlements, tiered pricing, and vendor renewal negotiations.

  • Ability to identify and pilot new tools or approaches for infrastructure efficiency, and to build a forward-looking innovation backlog in partnership with platform vendors and internal architecture teams.

3. Project Management

  • 7–10 years of overall experience, including 5+ years dedicated to project management in supply chain projects.

  • Proven experience managing EU and US customers, with exposure to Asian markets considered an added advantage.

  • Strong background in Supply Chain Management (SCM), Retail, or Analytics, or prior experience delivering ERP implementations.

  • PMP or Prince2 certification, along with planning practitioner's knowledge and hands-on experience with planning-platform implementations.

  • Structured, organized working style with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and remain composed under pressure.

  • Extreme focus on customer value realization, with experience using analytical tools such as R considered a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Master’s degree (preferred)
