Job Description:
The Distribution SME serves as the senior functional expert for Distribution operations within the Oracle Fusion ERP transformation.
This individual owns the detailed business processes supporting Order Management, Inventory, Fulfillment, Logistics, Shipping, and Returns while partnering closely with the Solution Design Lead to ensure those processes integrate seamlessly into the overall ERP solution.
Unlike the Solution Design Lead, who owns enterprise-wide solution integration, the Distribution SME provides deep operational expertise and drives best practices within the Distribution domain.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience supporting wholesale distribution environments and understands the complete operational lifecycle from purchase orders through warehouse operations, inventory management, customer fulfillment, shipping, returns, and financial impacts.
This individual must be highly collaborative, naturally curious, and willing to investigate process issues rather than simply identifying them. The team is looking for someone who takes ownership, asks questions, and helps solve problems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Distribution subject matter expert for the Oracle Fusion implementation.
- Lead current-state assessments and future-state process design for Distribution operations.
- Design standardized business processes across:
- Order Management
- Inventory Management
- Fulfillment
- Shipping
- Returns
- Warehouse Operations
- Partner with business users to gather, validate, and refine functional requirements.
- Document business processes and identify opportunities for automation and standardization.
- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure end-to-end process alignment.
- Work with Business Analysts to review requirements and functional documentation.
- Participate in solution design workshops with business stakeholders.
- Support configuration discussions with Oracle implementation teams.
- Lead Distribution-related System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Help resolve functional issues throughout implementation.
- Drive adoption of standardized Oracle business processes.
Must-Haves
- 8–10+ years of experience supporting Distribution, Supply Chain, Order Management, or Logistics operations.
- Strong Oracle ERP or Oracle Fusion functional experience.
- Business process transformation experience - not just Oracle configuration

- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into ERP solutions.
- Provenbusiness process improvement and optimization experience.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops with business users.
- Demonstrated ownership mentality with a willingness to investigate issues and drive solutions to completion rather than handing them off.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Publishing, wholesale distribution, or supply chain industry experience.
- Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation experience.
- Experience with 3PL integrations or warehouse management systems.
- Experience supporting large enterprise ERP transformation programs.
- Knowledge of financial impacts within Distribution and Order-to-Cash processes.
- Experience mentoring Business Analysts.
- Continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma experience.
