Role Overview
The Lead Database SRE is responsible for the reliability, scalability, security, and intelligent automation of enterprise database platforms supporting critical business applications. This role blends deep Oracle database engineering expertise with SRE, DevOps, and AI-driven operational practices (AIOps) to ensure highly available, performant, and resilient database services. We require a Senior Oracle DBA with extensive hands-on experience in Oracle GoldenGate, including replication setup, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and migration projects.
The role provides both production and development support for database platforms, with strong ownership of operational excellence, automation, and performance engineering. Additionally, the Lead Database SRE acts as a catalyst in modernizing database operations through Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, and AI-assisted automation frameworks using developer tools and intelligent observability systems.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
Core SRE / DevOps Skills
Strong experience with SRE practices and automation.
Proficiency in Python scripting, Good to have -Bash/KornShell, PowerShell.
Experience with Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tools.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
Senior Oracle DBA with extensive hands-on experience in Oracle GoldenGate, including replication setup, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and migration projects.
Database Technologies
Extensive experience with Oracle databases (11g–23c), RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM.
Strong understanding of HA/DR architectures.
Experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server is preferred.
AI / AIOps & Automation (Preferred)
Exposure to AI-driven IT operations and log analytics.
Experience with anomaly detection and intelligent alerting systems.
Familiarity with ML frameworks or LLM-based assistants is a plus.
Additional Requirements
Experience supporting mission-critical systems in multi-region environments.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of ITIL frameworks.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with Delphix, ServiceNow, Control-M.
Exposure to Kafka, Kubernetes DB operators.
Knowledge of NoSQL and data platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Reliability, Operations & Support
Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of Oracle database platforms supporting mission-critical applications.
Act as a point of escalation for complex production issues and service disruptions.
Monitor database health, capacity, and performance with proactive issue prevention.
Perform deep analysis of repetitive incidents and operational patterns to eliminate recurring issues.
Drive continuous improvement by removing alert noise and optimizing alerting patterns using intelligent correlation and observability tools.
Database Engineering & Administration
Manage Oracle environments (11g–23c), including RAC, ASM/ACFS, Data Guard, RMAN, Exadata, and OEM.
Perform performance tuning using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and execution plans.
Define and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Provide advisory support to development teams on schema, queries, and optimization.
Contribute to AI-assisted query tuning and performance recommendation frameworks.
SRE, DevOps & Automation
Develop and implement automation for database provisioning, patching, upgrades, and DR drills.
Build Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Ansible, and related tools.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
Promote automation-first and self-healing database operations.
Enable API-driven and self-service database provisioning.
AI-Driven Automation & Developer Tool Integration
Design and implement AI-powered operational workflows (AIOps), including predictive failure detection and intelligent alert correlation.
Build smart runbooks and auto-remediation frameworks.
Integrate with developer tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, REST APIs, and Python frameworks.
Leverage LLM-based assistants and log analytics platforms for observability and diagnostics.
Cloud & Migration
Support migrations from on-prem to cloud and hybrid environments.
Ensure scalability, security, and performance in cloud deployments.
Security & Compliance
Implement database security controls including encryption (TDE), auditing, and access management.
Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.
