Oracle APEX Developer

Job Overview

The Oracle APEX Developer will support the modernization of legacy Oracle Forms applications by converting them to Oracle APEX applications running on Oracle Database 19c. This role will focus on Oracle PL/SQL development, application performance and security, and the delivery of maintainable, scalable solutions. The developer will collaborate with technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing Oracle Forms applications, including architecture, data structures, integrations, and functionality.

• Support the migration and conversion of legacy Oracle Forms applications to Oracle APEX.

• Design and develop modern Oracle APEX user interfaces in collaboration with the technical lead.

• Help establish UI/UX design standards for future Oracle APEX applications.

• Develop and maintain PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, packages, and advanced queries.

• Perform data extraction, analysis, and scripting to support reporting and system enhancements.

• Review existing documentation to understand system requirements, architecture, reporting, and application functionality.

• Implement and support application security, user roles, and authorization models across integrated Oracle systems.

• Conduct performance profiling and tuning to improve application responsiveness and maintainability.

• Create technical, business functional, and system documentation.

• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, coding, testing, deployment, and post-production support.

• Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to IT staff and fellow developers.

• Assist with production deployments and release management activities.

• Provide weekly project status updates to management.

• Develop reports for executive management, end users, and IT staff.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of experience developing in Oracle PL/SQL, including stored procedures, functions, packages, and advanced queries.

• 5 years of experience developing applications using Oracle APEX.

• Strong knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, with Oracle 19c preferred.

• Strong experience using SQL Developer and/or TOAD.

• Understanding of data modeling principles.

• Experience integrating web services.

• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and testing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures in Oracle and SQL Server.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with Commonwealth or environmental systems.

• Experience modernizing legacy Oracle Forms applications.
