This position requires the lab instructor to oversee students in the lab setting andassist and evaluate the student’s technical skills. The instructor must be knowledgeable in the course material and havetaking continuing education courses on the subject. The instructor must be knowledgeable in the discipline and mustprovide high quality instruction. The instructor must havedemonstrated knowledge of and integration ofappropriate skills and practices/theories of teaching to different learning styles. Able todemonstrate skills and activities that willfacilitate student learning, and monitor student behavior and performance.Â
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Â
This position requires lab instruction in the discipline. The instructor must be knowledgeable in the discipline and mustprovide high quality instruction. The instructor must havedemonstrated knowledge of and integration ofappropriate skills and practices/theories of teaching adult learners. Â
1. Use Microsoft Office Suite and/or other required programs.2. Use of Blackboard. 3. Use of Owens email. 4. Dexterity for dental instrumentation. Good sight or use of magnification loupes. 5. Good verbal speaking skills.Â
1. The instructor must understand the needs of community college students. 2. Good organizational skills. 3.Provide positive feedback to students.Â

Essential Functions:Â
Display professional behavior toward all students, colleagues, supervisors, and the entire college community at all times.Â
TEACHING AND LAB ASSISTING: 1. Follow the course syllabus using theappropriate grading criteria listed within the syllabus. 2. Follow the calendar of assignmentsin accordance with the syllabus and course outline. 3. Conduct class during the scheduled times using the department approved text. 4. Follow the department guidelines for course content and best practices. 5. Meet classes on all scheduled dates during the assigned semester. 6. Meet classes on time and hold classes for their fullyaloted time. 7. Useappropriate classroom management techniques. 8. Useappropriate means of technology.Â
ASSIGNMENTS, TESTS, SKILL EVALUATIONS, RECORDS: 1. Grade assignments, skill evaluations and testsappropriate to the class. 2.Assist lead instructor inaccurate and thorough records of grades and student attendance.Â
COMMUNICATIONS: 1. Use the Blackboard course management system. 2. Use Office Suite and/or other required programs. 3. Submit all requested documents/training to the department Blackboard site. 4. Check Owens email within48 hours. 5. Respond to student inquiries outside of class timein a timely manner.Â
DEPARTMENT: 1.Attend department and collegeworkshop, trainingsession, and development opportunities as needed. 2. Attend department and collegemeetings as necessary. 3. Participate in student learning assessment activities. 4. Attend annual teaching methodologies courses as required by Accreditation standards. 5. Other departmental duties as assigned.Â
PROFESSIONAL: 1.Maintain professional license or certification. 2. Take annual continuing education asrequired for license or certification. 3. Maintain CPR credentials. 4. Maintain membership in professional organization.Â

Minimum Education/Experience:Â
