Optical Engineer Intern

ETC is hiring interns for the summer of 2027! This is an on-site position in our Middleton, WI office.

Some of the duties you may be doing:

Assignment may involvelens design & analysis, illumination design, colorimetry, photometric testing, image quality assessment relating to entertainment or architectural LED lighting fixtures. May also involve QA/Manufacturing, support of existing fixtures, or new lighting fixtures currently in development.Become familiar with tools and software applications (Zemax, SolidWorks) utilized by the R&D department.

Representative Responsibilities:
• Perform set-up and optical testing of ETC fixtures
• Participate in the development efforts
• Assist with the design modifications or improvements
• Develop test and verification procedures
• May be involved in continuing engineering maintenance and manufacturing floor support of existing products
• Provides task completion time estimates
• Other tasks as assigned

Minimum qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
• Working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering or related field
• Junior or Senior year or have taken relevant courses in Optical Engineering
• 1-2 years post high school education in area of specialization
• GPA: 3.0 or higher
