Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour to $21.00/hour
Duration: 10 months+
Hours: Mon to Fri 6am to 2:30pm
Qualifications:
As a Fiberglass Winding and Coil Cutting Operator, your role involves the operation and maintenance of machinery for manufacturing fiberglass products. In addition to winding and cutting tasks, you will be responsible for overseeing the proper mixing of chemicals, labeling finished products, and maintaining inventory control. Precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential for success in this position.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in operating fiberglass winding machines and coil cutting equipment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication. Spanish is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Basic mathematical skills for order fulfillment and inventory management.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Machine Operation:
• Operate and monitor fiberglass winding machines to wind strands onto cores.
• Adjust machine settings based on product specifications, ensuring proper tension, speed, and temperature.
• Conduct routine checks to maintain optimal machine performance.
Coil Cutting:
• Use cutting tools to trim and cut fiberglass coils according to precise dimensions.
• Follow cutting patterns, blueprints, or other specifications, conducting regular quality checks.
• Inspect cut coils for defects, adjusting and maintaining accuracy.
Chemical Mixing:
• Prepare fiberglass resin and other chemical mixtures according to established formulas.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective equipment during the chemical mixing process.
• Monitor and control the flow of chemicals to ensure consistency in product quality.
Labeling and Packaging:
• Label finished fiberglass products accurately, including batch numbers, production dates, and other relevant information.
• Package products securely, adhering to company standards and customer requirements.
• Ensure proper documentation and labeling for hazardous materials if applicable.
Quality Control:
• Conduct thorough quality checks on both the fiberglass winding process and the cut coils.
• Identify and address defects promptly, adhering to quality control protocols.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement improvements and ensure product excellence.
Inventory Control:
• Monitor and manage the inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and finished products.
• Conduct regular audits to track stock levels, minimizing waste and ensuring availability for production.
• Coordinate with the procurement team to reorder materials as needed.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
• Perform routine maintenance on winding and cutting machinery.
• Troubleshoot and address minor issues promptly, escalating complex problems to maintenance personnel.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to implement preventive maintenance schedules.
Safety Compliance:
• Strictly adhere to safety protocols during all phases of production, including chemical mixing, winding, and cutting.
• Participate in safety training programs and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Documentation:
• Maintain detailed records of production activities, including chemical mixing, machine settings, and quality control checks.
• Complete inventory logs, labeling documentation, and other necessary paperwork accurately.
COMPETENCIES:
• Proficiency in forklift operation and experience in outbound logistics.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing situations.
