What you will do:

The Operations Finance Manager - Procurement & Co-Manufacturing is a strategic finance business partner responsible for translating procurement, supplier, co-manufacturer, commodity, and manufacturing performance into clear financial insights and actions. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Operations Finance, this role leads planning, forecasting, performance management, and decision support for purchased materials and externally manufactured products. The Manager develops transparent variance and inflation analytics, evaluates supplier and co-manufacturer economics, strengthens controls and data quality, and partners across Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Accounting, Commercial Finance, Quality, and R&D to improve cost, service, quality, working capital, and margin outcomes. The role acts as a proactive business expert, challenges assumptions constructively, communicates the why and so what behind results, and builds capability through clear ownership, coaching, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Here’s a day in the life:

Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Financial performance management: Own monthly results, rolling forecasts, annual budgets, risks and opportunities, and executive-ready performance narratives for Procurement and Co-Manufacturing.

  • Integrated planning and scenario analysis: Build driver-based forecasts and what-if analyses for purchased materials and externally manufactured products, clearly documenting assumptions, sensitivities, and implications for standard cost, COGS, cash flow, margin, and business decisions.

  • Performance routines and dashboards: Establish consistent KPIs, definitions, scorecards, and recurring reviews that surface trends, root causes, risks, opportunities, decisions, owners, and follow-through.

  • Productivity and cost-savings pipeline: Own the governance of the procurement and co-manufacturing productivity and cost-out pipeline, ensuring initiatives are quantified, validated, and tracked from idea through realized benefit and reconciled to the P&L and standard cost.

Procurement Variance, Inflation & Commodity Analytics

  • Procurement variance bridge: Explain purchase price variance and mix by product and vendor, volume effects from scale and plan changes, timing versus standard cost, contractual changes, and other key drivers.

  • Inflation and savings analytics: Separate market-driven inflation from Procurement-directed savings, compare vendor pricing with market and planning assumptions, and quantify realized versus expected benefits.

  • Forward-looking outlooks: Deliver quarterly inflation and commodity outlooks versus budget or latest forecast, including scenarios, sensitivities, top drivers, business implications, and recommended actions.

  • Vendor performance insight: Partner with Supply Chain to develop supplier dashboards comparing actual results with contract terms, volume and mix effects, monthly changes, savings delivery, service, quality, and financial performance.

  • Commodity risk and coverage oversight: Oversee monitoring of commodity markets; and support with scenario and sensitivity analysis; and ensure exposure and financial impact are quantified versus budget and latest forecast.

Co-Manufacturing Economics & Decision Support

  • Co-manufacturer economics: Evaluate conversion and material costs, yield and loss, capacity, minimums, service, quality, freight, inventory, sourcing alternatives, contract changes, and total landed cost.

  • Strategic decision support: Develop consistent financial models for make-versus-buy, sourcing, supplier negotiations, productivity initiatives, network alternatives, and risk-mitigation decisions; frame options and trade-offs with a clear recommendation.

  • Value realization: Define financial assumptions and success measures, integrate approved decisions into forecasts and standard costs, and track realized benefits after implementation.

  • Inventory and working-capital analytics: Direct analysis of inventory turns optimization and potential slow-moving and obsolete inventory due to supply to demand balancing. Analyze need for projected reserves for purchased and co-manufactured goods, ensuring impacts to margin, cash, and service are quantified and corrective actions are recommended.

Controls, Data Quality & Digital Enablement

  • Close, controls, and reconciliation: Partner with Accounting and Cost Accounting on accruals, inventory and standard-cost impacts, purchase price variance, savings calculations, variance explanations, controls, documentation, and audit support.

  • Data and model governance: Ensure source data, allocations, financial models, dashboards, and management reporting are accurate, controlled, traceable, documented, and reconcilable to reported results.

  • Continuous improvement and automation: Improve processes, systems, data models, reporting, and workflows through standardization, automation, and self-service analytics that increase speed, transparency, consistency, and decision usefulness.

  • Business Partnership, Strategic Thinking & Impactful Communication

  • Act as a proactive business partner: Partner across Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Accounting, Commercial Finance, Quality, R&D, and external suppliers or co-manufacturers. Clarify the underlying business question, shape requests toward the highest-value work, and translate analysis into decisions and actions.

  • Own the end-to-end analytical process: Understand upstream and downstream implications and connect supplier and co-manufacturer decisions to manufacturing, inventory, service, quality, customer, category, cash flow, and enterprise financial outcomes.

  • Communicate with influence: Explain what changed, why it changed, why it matters, and what action is recommended through concise, audience-appropriate narratives and presentations.

  • Challenge constructively: Test assumptions and conclusions, bring clarity to ambiguity, and challenge legacy approaches while maintaining productive cross-functional relationships.

  • Bring external and internal perspective: Use benchmarks, best practices, and sound business judgment to improve analytical methods and prioritize the most critical work.

  • Support strategic initiatives: Lead or support business cases, cross-functional projects, productivity programs, sourcing evaluations, and other duties assigned by Finance leadership.

Team Leadership, Coaching & Capability Building

  • Team and partner capability: Lead and develop assigned analysts and build broader partner capability through clear ownership, priorities, review cadences, coaching, constructive feedback, knowledge sharing, and practical documentation. Foster accountability, curiosity, initiative, collaboration, and reliable follow-through.
