Responsibilities

  • Manages the assembly and verification of the Certificate of Compliance (CoC) and Bahamian Endorsement Certificate of embarking Engineering Officers in Tack and maintains the record keeping for USCG and Bahamas Maritime Authority audit inspections in coordination with the Marine Operations Assistant.
  • Manages the filing, record keeping and archive of all SMS documentation (e.g., Logbooks, Arrival/ Departure Operational Guidelines, Hot Work Permits, etc. for External and Internal SMS audits and reports).
  • Manages the safekeeping and monitoring of all the latest versions of technical software and hardware and keeps them in a controlled location.
  • Responsible for the timely signing off of logbooks and other statutory documentation (e.g., Oil Record Book, Record Book for Fuel Oil and Ozone Depleting Substances and Sewage and Gray Water Discharge Record Book).
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining Chief Engineer’s Standing Orders and Engineering Operational Memorandums and verify all newly embarked Officers have complied, read and signed the sign sheet upon their return.
  • Manages the generation, distribution and collection of Officer and Crew signed contracts.
  • Maintains contact with the Labor Manager ashore in preparing and processing changes to crew contracts, travel etc. and facilitate completion of Workflow.
  • Maritime Labor Code Compliance
  • Main contact of Labor Analyst in preparing weekly working schedule for both Officer and Crew and verify compliance with the Maritime Labor Code (rest hours, time zone changes, and watch change).
  • Check Superstar for variances including Dashboard and Starlite, and report to respective leaders. Also assist Senior Leaders in monitoring clock variance and adjusting time clock errors.
  • Assist Senior Leaders in preparing schedule changes for Crew Members who responded to emergency maintenance.
  • Manages the organization of Electronic Record Card system for Engineering Department and is the main contact for the HR Manager and Labor Analyst for HR compliance related concerns.
  • Responsible for securing all documentation requirement for vendors and casts sailing on business and issuance of ID badge. Contact point of Guest Services / Security and other departments for concerns related to contractors.
  • Responsible for the generation of monthly report for HR refresher compliance trainings from D Learn (e.g., Body Motion training and Disability Awareness and liaise with HR Learning and Development Manager on the reservation of training venue).
  • Administers the maintenance and updates of the central archive and Technical Library of ship’s Manuals and Drawings to verify that all amendments are incorporated with the latest version of the drawing.
  • Manages the coordination and tracking of On the Job Training (OJT) for Officers and Crew and sees to the completion of appropriate checklist and acknowledgment in the Electronic Record Card for Internal SMS and Lloyd’s inspection.
  • Responsible for account generation and key access issuance in Traka Key system to Crew, Officers and vendors.
  • Enter reimbursement in Concur for all Engineering Officers and Crew ensuring compliance to Travel and Expense Policy.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of the Chief Engineer’s Engineering Department Resource Management meeting with Officers and Crew members as prescribed by SMS.
  • Responsible for processing of STCW Bahamas Maritime Authority training and Officer Study Leave applications, certifications, record keeping and Marine and Technical Operations training related reimbursements.
  • Assists the Engineering Storekeeper in inventory control documentation and ordering general supplies thru MMS internal and external providers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Have previous relevant experience
  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be committed to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before a transfer or promotion
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency duties and/or associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing and able to uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • Be willing to follow and embrace United States Public Health requirements and guidelines as well as Environmental requirements and Company practices
  • Be willing to share a cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment
  • Be comfortable living in a confined space with strict rules and regulations
  • Adhere to a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally

Additional Information

This is a SHIPBOARD role. 
You must: 
  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel 
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan 
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control 
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations 
Your Responsibilities: 
  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this) 
  • Complete a pre-employment medical 
  • Obtain a criminal background check 
  • Bring approved work shoes
