Work Model: Hybrid (Onsite + Remote)
Schedule: Part-Time / Performance-Based
Duration: 1 year +Up to 4 additional years
Estimated Monthly Hours: 20 β 40 hours
Minimum Onsite Visits: 3 per month (mandatory)
TheOperational Medical Director (OMD) will provideclinical leadership, medical oversight, and regulatory guidance for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations supporting theFire & Rescue Department (FRD) at MWAA airports.
The Medical Director will overseeEMS protocols, credentialing, clinical quality assurance, pharmacy compliance, training programs, and disaster preparedness while ensuring compliance withVirginia EMS regulations and national EMS standards.
This isnot a shift-based clinical role but astrategic oversight and medical governance position responsible for maintaining the highest standards of pre-hospital patient care.
Education: MD or DO (Required)
Licensure
- Currentunrestricted Virginia Medical License
- Virginia EMS Physician Endorsement
Board Certification
Candidate must meet one of the following:- Board Certified inEmergency Medicine
- Board Certified inFamily Medicine
- Board Certified inInternal Medicine
- Board Certified inSurgery
Required Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years recent experience as:
- EMS Medical Director
- Operational Medical Director
- EMS Clinical Leadership role
- Experience must include:
- EMS protocol development
- Clinical oversight of EMS operations
- Provider credentialing and training
- Regulatory compliance management
- Pre-hospital emergency medical systems
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtainAirport SIDA Security Clearance
- Experience working withFire & Rescue EMS agencies
- Knowledge ofNational Incident Management System (NIMS) andIncident Command System (ICS)
- Provideclinical leadership for EMS operations
- MaintainEMS regulatory compliance and licensure
- Develop and reviewmedical protocols
- Overseetraining and continuing education
- ManageEMS pharmacy operations
- Serve asmedical liaison with hospitals and regulators
- Participate inemergency response planning
