Job Description
The University of Nevada, School of Medicine is recruiting for a Tribal Outreach Program Coordinator. This position will support the development and implementation of Tribal health education and outreach initiatives within the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine. Working closely with the Rural Health Professions Education Coordinator and community partners, this position will build and maintain relationships with Tribal communities, facilitate educational programming, and support the establishment of clinical training opportunities within Tribal health settings. The Coordinator will strengthen pathways into health professions education, increase awareness of healthcare careers among Tribal youth, and promote culturally responsive educational opportunities by coordinating outreach activities, managing Tribal partnership agreements, organize events and educational programs, and support initiatives aimed at increasing representation of Tribal students in the healthcare workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Tribal governments, Tribal schools, health organizations, and community leaders throughout Nevada and the surrounding region.
- Collaborate with departmental leadership and community partners to establish and maintain agreements supporting educational programming and clinical training experiences within Tribal communities.
- Coordinate Tribal health education outreach programs designed to increase awareness of healthcare careers among middle school and high school students.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement an annual summer institute for students from participating Tribal communities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a master’s degree and one year of related work experience
Related experience- Community outreach, education, public health, healthcare, or related work; experience in program coordination or program management
Certification or licensuresÂ
Nevada driver’s license
