ONE ON ONE AIDE
Job Summary:Â
The One to One aide is assigned exclusively to one child for a specified period of time. The aide is to work with the child who needs specific attention. A one-to-one aide can provide support to a child in many ways.Â
Hours:Â Â School year - 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Duties/Responsibilities:Â
Coordinates and maintains individual help and assistance to a child with special needs within an after-school program environmentÂ
Provides reinforcement to individual of direct material initially taught by the after-school educatorsÂ
Maintains or modifies the child’s curriculum and enrichment activities to the needs of the childÂ
Responsible for dealing with and following any behavior plansÂ
Communicates daily with various groups of people outside the program including parents/ guardians, school day teachers, special education department and other team members working with the childÂ
Maintains a daily activity log on progressÂ
Attends parent/educator conferences as requiredÂ
Performs other duties as may be necessary and assigned by the classroom teacher and/or administratorÂ
Qualifications
Education and Experience:Â Â
Must be 18 years oldÂ
Requires knowledge of classroom environment, special education environment, safety issues and needs of special education studentsÂ
Must have oral and written communication skills and basic computer skillsÂ
Any special education software knowledge desiredÂ
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredÂ
Â
Physical Requirements:Â Â
Requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, and runningÂ
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk Â
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Â
