This is an expressin of interest, for aProject Managerthat is able tolead complex, high-impact mechanical across theCanterbury Region with us at Fulton Hogan.
With current projects and future tendered work, the scope spans across water and wastewater, industrial services, and process infrastructure sectors, with strong integration betweenmechanical, electrical, civil, structural, andcontrols disciplines. Weāre interested in people from high-complexity industrial and civil environments who are confident managingmultidisciplinarysystems. Ā
Youāll be someone that is able to lead deliver mechanical engineering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.Working closely with electrical and civil teams to deliver complex, integrated solutions. You will hold strong programme management, subcontractor coordination, procurement, cost control, commissioning, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead projects from design coordination through to handover. This role could be suitable for Senior Project Engineer that is ready to move towards Project Manager.

In addition to the above you will:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of mechanical projects, guiding engineers and site teams through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
- Manage programmes, sequencing, methodologies, and look-ahead schedules to keep work safe, efficient, and on track.
- Oversee procurement planning, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities across assigned projects.
- Keep a clear grip on cost to complete, forecasting, and procurement planning, making smart decisions that protect value for money and keep projects moving.
- Provide clear project reporting, forecasting, and commercial oversight, using your working knowledge of NZS 3910 requirements and project communication processes.
- Drive practical solutions to technical and delivery issues, reducing disruption and keeping projects on track.
- Lead quality assurance requirements, including QA documentation, ITPs, FAT/SAT, commissioning plans, and completion records.
- Review and approve vendor documentation, specifications, installation procedures, shop drawings, and project records.
- Ensure mechanical completion, as-built information, O&M manuals, and client handover documentation are accurate, complete, and aligned to requirements.
- Drive Fulton Hoganās health and safety expectations, making sure all work is planned and delivered in line with legislation, internal procedures, and project-specific requirements.
- Lead risk reviews, SWMS development, and site health and safety leadership activities to support compliance with relevant New Zealand standards, codes, and industry guidelines
Your project scope exposure will include; water, wastewater, pumpstations, industrial, oil & gas, or process infrastructure OR transferable experience from comparable complex mechanical/operations environments.
Weāre looking for someone with:
- Bachelorāsdegree in Mechanical Engineering (Civil or Electrical considered where strong mechanical exposure exists).
- Minimum 3+ years in Project Manager leveldelivering mechanical/civil scope over $30M.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or operational lines.
- Experience with project programming tools (e.g.,MS Project, CCS preferrable).
- Strong understanding ofNZS 3910processes: claims, variations, delays, formal notices.
- Strong financial acumen: cost tracking, forecasting, claims, variations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong technical knowledge, commissioning and operational completion.
- Demonstrated commitment to leadership in Health & Safety.
- **Able to travel toCentral Otago is required, subject to forward work
