SUMMARY:Performs various cleaning functions in assigned work area following established policies and procedures necessary to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. The core Success Factors include:Instill Trust and Value DifferencesPatient and Community Focus and CollaborateRESPONSIBILITIES:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and other areas effectivelyUtilizes the ten step cleaning approach to deliver a clean and safe environment.Shower rooms are cleaned, disinfected and aesthetically maintainedUtility rooms and hampers are cleaned, disinfected and maintained appropriatelyWater is changed after cleaning a maximum of three rooms or when water is visibly soiledMaintains the housekeeping cart in a clean, neat orderStocks up housekeeping cart for the next shiftInsures all working equipment is cleaned and polishedCommodes are properly cleaned and disinfectedPaper band is placed around commode seat after cleaning to indicate cleanliness and readiness for patient utilizationIV poles are cleaned and disinfected properlyPatient chairs and furniture is disinfected and aesthetically cleanedNotifies supervisor of damaged furniture, soiled curtains or other areas that need attentionExercises protective equipment controls when dealing with bloodborne pathogensWears protective equipment to ensure own safety when handling blood and bloody fluidsComplies with guidelines in the handling and disposal of infectious wasteFollows proper procedure on the cleaning and disinfecting of contaminated areasDemonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.Performs other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to follow oral and written directionsEDUCATION:High school diploma or GED preferred.
