As a member of the Foundations organization, you will participate in delivery of robust, resilient, and scalable platform solutions that host Splunk’s enterprise software. Your focus will be on developing automation and services to ensure seamless, high-quality services for the users. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your experience to support the growth and evolution of the Splunk Platform.

WhatYou’llGet to Do

• Develop, and maintain Splunk Platform components across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure) and on-premises infrastructure, focusing on scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
• Participate in implementing, testing, and deploying of distributed systems.
• Contribute hands-on through implementation, debugging, testing, code review, and production investigation.
• Learn and apply software engineering best practices in distributed systems programming, including debugging, performance tuning, and reliability engineering for complex systems like Kubernetes controllers, database platforms, and data replication.
• Monitor and improve service health indicators, observability, SLOs, RPO/RTO targets, alerting, runbooks, and end-to-end recovery testing.
• Support incident diagnosis and learning, reducing operational risk and limiting customer impact through quality assurance, automation, and recovery practices.
• Follow and support a culture of continuous learning and adaptability within an agile, fast-paced environment, encouraging innovation and exploration of new technologies.
• Mentor and guide junior and entry-level engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications

• Solid software engineering experience inGo and/orC++, alongside scripting proficiency inPython orBash for automation and operational tooling.
• Proven experience deploying and operating critical cloud-native applications at scale across SaaS and/or on-premises containerized environments.
• Demonstrated ability to participate effectively in technical design reviews and communicate engineering trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Ability to work mostly independently, make responsible technical decisions, promptly raise flags when support is needed, and thrive in a fast-changing environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to knowledge sharing and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience authoring Kubernetes-native software, such asKubernetes Operators and Controllers, particularly for stateful systems (databases, caches, object storage).
• Deep understanding of cloud-based database management systems, especiallyPostgreSQL and modernNoSQL technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins), and networking/security fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, API gateways, service mesh, TLS infrastructure).
• Practical experience working withinScrum, Kanban, or SAFe agile methodologies.
• An innovative mindset with a strong drive to learn emerging technologies and apply creative approaches to complex engineering problems.
