Overview

Job Summary:
 Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination. 

Job Responsibilities:

•    Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.

•    Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation.  Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumental as necessary. 

•    Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks andresponsibilities. 

•    Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed.

•    Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493

•    Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Degree: High School Diploma or GED  
•    Experience: None required
•    Supervisor Experience: None required 
•    Licenses & Certification: ASCP/AMT/ABB or equivalent 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Experience: <2 years
